Tommy Hilfiger Freedom ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 27 November 2012 9 Comments

Tommy Hilfiger Freedom 2012 advert

Tommy Hilfiger has launched Freedom, a new fragrance for men. Freedom was inspired by "the open sea", and is not related to the fragrance of the same name that Hilfiger introduced in 1999.

Timeless and irresistible, Freedom for Him by Tommy Hilfiger has a clean, crisp note and comes with a fresh citrus twist that's a signature trait of our scents. The perfect day-to-night perfume.

The notes include greenery, basil, violet, juniper, clary sage, white pepper, ginger, orange blossom, coriander, sandalwood and salty driftwood accord.

Tommy Hilfiger Freedom is available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

I wish we had the freedom from Fresh/Marine/Polo/Nautica
    knock-off fragrances.

Agreed. I’m so tired of this type of scent. It’s like the perfumers have vats of unused fragrance formulas sitting around in a warehouse in central New Jersey. “Need a new men’s aquatic? Let’s bottle vat #6319, mod 4a, and slap a label on it. Done.”

    Oh Tommy.

Isn’t he (and Lauder, who owns the license) at least a decade too late in launching a scent like this? As novel as calone and other marine accords were back in the 90’s, whenever I catch a whiff of those type of fragrances now, they seem so dated, stale and yes, yawn-inducing. Is this really what the fragrance world needs more of? Really?

I doubt they expect it to set the world on fire, but clearly these things still sell!

“perfect day to night perfume” = utterly forgettable

In honor of Franklin Roosevelt I propose that Hilfger come out with four fragrances at the same time…FDR proposed the Four Freedoms in 1941…Freedom of Speech/Expression (one freedom), Freedom of Religion, Freedom from Fear, and I think Fredom from Violence…just like the four Polo fragrances released at the same time, the Four Fredoms from Hilfiger would make an impact. They could donate some of the proceeds to organizations today fighting to defend the fur freedoms!

That is a brilliant idea! However, it is so high over the heads of the TH target audience, it would just get lost in the ether. 😉
