English Laundry Riviera & No. 7 ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 5 November 2012 6 Comments

English Laundry Riviera

English Laundry has launched Riviera and No. 7, two new fragrances for men:*

Riviera (shown) ~ "Fresh, Clean & Crisp. Riviera has a citrus opening of lemon, bergamot, lime and cedar followed by rich heart notes of jasmine, patchouli, vetiver, geranium, lavender, cassis, lily, mandarin and ylang-ylang."

No. 7 ~ "Deep, Distinctive & Unique. This fragrance has a burst of bergamot, lemon, tarragon and lavender at the top. This fuses with middle notes of basil, petitgrain, jasmine, clary sage and geranium. The dry down features clean woody notes of cedarwood, patchouli, cardamom, musk and amber."

English Laundry Riviera and No. 7 can be found at Dillard's, in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

(via dillards)

* Riviera appears to be new; No. 7 might just be new to Dillard's.

I love the name of the brand! How much less pretentious can you get:

‘Something smells nice: what you wearing?’

‘Oh, its just something I picked up at the grocer’s the other day; think its called English Laundry…Wait a minute: was I in the toiletries aisle, or with the detergents. Not sure’, he shrugs.

Where I live in So Cal we have a French Laundry that is an actual clothes cleaning establishment. Very upscale…some people get their laundry done their (not me!). I guess the makers of this fragrance knew this so that is why they used English Laundry as the name…

Couldn’t say where the name came from — think they’re mostly known for men’s dress shirts, though.
