In spite of an overt “feminist” set-up (it’s called Manifesto FGS) it feels like the woman in the ad is pretty damn disempowered.

I’m just pining for a return to the days when a woman in an ad could be a masterful artist who used a brush instead a naif using her body. (I’m at a loss remembering the perfume ad with the woman painting the male nude model.)

May be obvious but the final image of the ad channels Yves Klein’s Anthropometries.

Also editing pet peeve, music is too literal, and when the auctioneer says “sold” and the music syncs with “Go!,” I cringed.

A statement by someone at L’Oreal pretty much sums it all up, I think (this is from wwd):

“An aspiration of women today is to be admired and desired, continued Bezy, adding, “and, for us, this fragrance celebrates those women.”

So their idea of “manifesto” is perhaps not so feminist 😉

I’m reminded of fingerpaints in kindergarten, and why is she buying her own work at auction? Does the purple mean it’s another red berry concoction?

It’s supposed to be a woody oriental, but I haven’t smelled it.

How in the heck are they gonna condense that down to 15 or 30 seconds? That’s a commercial where you have to watch the whole thing

Yes…they’re going to have to mostly skip the “auction” idea I think.

P.s, I’m so annoyed that this doesn’t come out until next year in the u.s! Hate it when they do that

A question for Isabella Rossellini (or whoever owns the license to her perfume of the same name): aren’t you going to sue these people?

Since it’s a woody fragrance is that why she looks so wooden?
But i LOVE those rooms with the paneling (more wood!) and chandeliers.

Generic and boring. I guess with Manifesto, Yves Saint Laurent is now officially DEAD..
