Christian Dior Oud Ispahan ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 18 July 2012 7 Comments

Christian Dior Oud Ispahan

Christian Dior has launched Oud Ispahan, a new addition to the La Collection Privée Christian Dior series:

The young Christian Dior was amazed to discover, far from his country, the profusion of shimmering colours and intoxicating scents of the Orient. It was an extremely sensorial world, which he remembered, once he had become a Couturier-Perfumer and enjoyed using richly embroidered fabrics and composing exceptional perfumes.

Knowledgeable from Christian Dior's fascination with a fantastical Orient, François Demachy, Dior’s Perfume Creator, has now created a unique fragrance, Oud Ispahan. An ode to Oud blended with Labdanum Absolute, this new chapter in the Christian Dior Collection Privée elegantly affirms its oriental identity.

The notes include rose, labdanum, oud wood and sandalwood.

Christian Dior Oud Ispahan is available in 125, 250 or 450 ml Eau de Parfum.

I very much enjoy Grand Bal from the series and I’m willing to try this one too even though oud is featured. I hope the rose is a prominent note in this one.

I am either proud or ashamed (can’t decide which, but not particularly worried about it) that I have not tried a single one of this series. And seriously plan to never try another rose + oud combination, although someday I’ll forget and try one 🙂

I tried most of them albeit very briefly. I liked the Vétiver since, well, it’s vetiver although one could argue that we already have a whole bunch of great vetivers so whether it’s necessary or not is another matter. Leather Oud was so raw and….hide-y… that I simultaneously recoiled in horror and sniggered at how beastly it was. It struck me as utterly unwearable yet strangely fun.

I thought people were exaggerating when they said this “oudh” trend is getting annoying.

    I get it now.

I have only tried one oudh frag (Francis Kurkdjian Oud), and it put me off oudh forever!! I literally wanted to throw up, and have only had that with one other scent (Olfactive Studio Still Life). I do not dare to try anything with oud (yet) for a while…
