Maison Martin Margiela Replica Flower Market, Beach Walk & Funfair Evening ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 25 May 2012 10 Comments

Maison Martin Margiela Replica Flower Market, Beach Walk

Maison Martin Margiela will launch a trio of fragrances for their Replica capsule line in June, although they are not expected to reach the US until next year. Replica Flower Market, Beach Walk and Funfair Evening are meant to "immediately to evoke a recollection".

Perfumers Jacques Cavallier and Marie Salamagne developed the fragrances.

Replica Flower Market (shown above left) ~ With notes of freesia, rose, jasmine and tuberose.

Replica Beach Walk (shown above right) ~ Featuring bergamot, lemon, pink pepper, ylang-ylang, coconut milk, musk and heliotrope.

Replica Funfair Evening (not shown) ~ With apple, star anise and marshmallow accord (caramel and orange blossom).

Maison Martin Margiela Replica Flower Market, Beach Walk and Funfair Evening will be available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Update: a description of the inspirations for the fragrances, via the Maison Martin Margiela blog:

The first is inspired by a walk in the fresh ocean air of the Corsican beach of Calvi in 1972, while Funfair evokes the sugary lightness of a Santa Monica carnival in 1994. Flower Market carries the scent of fresh cut flowers in the buckets and vases of a Parisian flower market in 2011.

Their Untitled is one of my fav current releases, it’s funny they kept the same spraying system. Replica Beach Walk, citrus, coconut and peper.. genius or weird, shame it’ll be feminine.

I really liked Untitled. Admit these are not moving me in any way…and maybe just as well, sounds like they’re going to have even more limited distribution here than Untitled. So might never see them.

That one sounds good to me.

I like Untitled, but it’s one of those love/hate scents. I wonder if these will be equally brave…

Agree that it’s strange that they kept the same sprayer. I suppose it’s for economy of scale and keeping the cost down?

Kind of sounds like a rehash of Demeter/CB I Hate..line. I was about to say more expensive, but aren’t some of the CB line more expensive?

Yes, some of the CB I Hate Perfume scents are pricey. But not all!

These do sound kind of in that line, maybe less focused on one note though, and more on a memory? Still, they don’t sound massively unusual, do they?

I immediately thought of CB I Hate Perfume as well. I have to ask, is a recollection of a particular setting universal?

    So it’s something like Demeter?

I doubt it. People are just talking about the inspirations — nobody has smelled them yet.
