A scent meant to evoke a seaside vacation

Posted by Robin on 22 May 2012 4 Comments

The changing rooms look like cabanas, beach sounds waft from the speaker system, and the imaging machine is disguised as a giant sand castle. The piece de resistance? The place is perfumed with Ocean Breeze, a scent meant to evoke a seaside vacation.

I want this in my home! Then again, do I want my home to smell of gas produced by the bacteria in the sea? Probably not. However, if this thing is going to make patients feel relaxed, why not?

Except it’s going to annoy others, right? And kids with asthma? I am not a huge fan of scent marketing / public space scenting — usually the scents annoy me. Pumping an aquatic / ozonic into my MRI would make the experience more rather than less stressful for me. Now, if they’d pump in something GOOD, like OJ Frangipani … 😉

Ha! It’s in Celebration? I’m surprised they’re not piping Mickey Mouse tunes through the speakers rather than beach sounds (Celebration is the town Disney built).
