I haven’t had a chance to try the fragrance but the video is lovely………such a feeling of spring and so very very French. The song is “Comme des enfants” by Couer de pirate which is the stage name of the Quebecois singer Beatrice Martin.

Thanks for the song and performer credit. It was wonderful, and now I’m off to find the MP3. Thanks!

Adding my thanks — was surprised they didn’t include a credit.

That was sweet, I enjoyed it. But ‘African Violet’ note?! How’d they get a smell outta that? 😉

Same way they get a smell out of most flowers 🙂

Really interesting to see what this note means, too, considering the ones I’m familiar with don’t smell (although they’re darn gorgeous to look at).

Exactly – I love to grow them and have a couple of them blooming at the moment. I detect no smell whatsoever. So, it does make me wonder what they mean about that note. I look forward to sniffing this. The Tocca line can be a little unexciting, but I do like Cleopatra, Florence & Stella for when I want something soft & pretty & unobtrusive. Which is not all that often – I usually go for something more gutsy. 😉 Of course there are those occasions where you need something more polite.

Why pitch this in the 1940s, when that was such a troubled period in French history? And then why choose 1920s-style silent cinema style for the graphics? Why am I such a pedant?

    Video is very sweet!

It is sweet. I don’t think most viewers will notice the historical issues and/or discrepancies.

No, I noticed the “1940s” immediately and I was thinking, couldn’t they have just picked a year between 1945 and 1949? Or maybe Violette met her first love on V-E Day? That would be a different video, though. Never mind. lol

I agree. Interesting that despite the war there some great fragrance releases: Femme, Bandit …

What a brilliant commercial. It is charming, and creates a specific mood, and tries to communicate meaningful information about the perfume. Bravo, well done. I’ll have to try it now. . .though none of this line has worked well for me, this advertisment makes me want to try once more 😀

None of it has worked for me either, and while this is charming, admit it did not make me want to rush out to try Violette.
