Slumberhouse Baque & Norne ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 20 March 2012 9 Comments

Slumberhouse Baque

Indie brand Slumberhouse has launched Baque and Norne:

Baque (shown) ~ "Baque is a warm amber tobacco flower perfume containing notes of smokey apricot, cedar, straw, vanilla, tobacco leaf, davana, ambergris tincture and parchment. Elegant, rustic, golden and warm properly sum the four corners of its tobacco and honey heart."

Norne ~ "Fog caked needle, lichen, fern and moss perfume the nocturnal air beneath grandiose canopies of fir and hemlock - a headspace captured in perfect equilibrium. Containing not one single essential oil nor synthetic, Norne is luxuriously composed entirely with 100% pure forest absolutes; a connoisseur grade fantasy/surrealist recipe of incensed coniferous woodsy resins inspired by the catharsis of self worship."

Slumberhouse Baque and Norne can be found now at Indiescents, $75 each for 30 ml Eau de Parfum.

The Slumberhouse fragrance descriptions often appeal to me. But, the few samples that I have actually tried on skin have not. They were uniformly sharp and, for lack of better words, medicinal-smelling. Disappointing for sure. Once again, these sound appealing, but I may save my money this time.

Agree. Very Medicinal and Sharp. This is a line you must sample first….

Just sampled Baque and I agree partly with the medicinal and sharp description. It started off as medicinal and I almost scrubbed but it did soften and I still thought it wasn’t quite for me. Maybe on a man… But then it morphed into this really warm, wonderful vanilla tobacco scent and I was quite happy for about an hour. The base, while not awful, was a bit sharp, and I’m not sure if that’s a deal breaker for me or not. When it was good, it was really good. I’ll have to give it another try another day to be sure.
