Hermès will launch Eau des Merveilles Au Bal des Etoiles in late February. The new fragrance [oops — as I began to suspect by the time we were done commenting on the day this posted, this is a collector bottle, not a new flanker! sorry for the confusion] for women is a flanker to 2004's Eau des Merveilles, and follows Elixir des Merveilles (2006) and Eau Claire des Merveilles (2010).
The notes feature oak, ambergris, bitter orange and pepper.
Hermès Eau des Merveilles Au Bal des Etoiles is a limited edition, and will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. The bottle features a "dragonfly fairy" by illustrator Alice Charbin.
Sounds interesting! I have an unloved bottle of the Elixir. Wore it for awhile, but then decided I didn’t like it much. Actually haven’t tried the Eau, but have a small sample of the Claire that I really should dig out…
I swapped away the Elixir but love the Eau Claire — have used it quite a bit.
Robin: I’m with you. Love the Eau Claire and wear it when I’m going to be in crowds where perfume sensitive folks could be lurking.
Hah, fun. The new Hermès signature: ambergris. Eau des Merveilles bottles are so nice. There’s a wonderful blue one.
The blue one was gorgeous…wish they’d do more colors.
I have a mini of the orginal and love it. And I drained my sample of the Elixir and must get more so I will have to try this. Plus, I love the bottle!

I love the bottle. Will have to try this. I really like the Eau and Eau Claire. But my bottle of Elixir is languishing in the dark in the back of my perfume closet.

I swapped for the Eau and Elixir in the recent Posse swap! I like all three of the Merveilles but not enough to buy FBs. You wrote in an earlier post that you wished they’d offered the existing three as a coffret. Me too! Why oh why don’t the companies listen to us?!
I’m intrigued and will certainly try this one out when it hits Sephora. I’ve liked all the Hermes Merveilles variants enough to give them each repeated testings when I’m at the mall, but not enough to get a sample for home use. Like Bulgari, I think I find them well done and quite interesting across the board, but not one from this house has actually sent me over the moon. Yet.

I assume so, in fact will be shocked if he isn’t. But haven’t seen it in print.
The name is far too long. This will be a commercial flop. The best selling perfume in modern history has no name, just a number.
Huh? No one’s expecting it to be a new No. 5.
And it’s a limited edition. I expect they’ll sell every bottle produced.

A shame there was nothing in your sources to indicate how exactly this is meant to differ from the original.
I love the original, and Eau Claire was nice but not different enough for me to go gaga for it. I’ll be curious to hear more about this one when it’s launched. I do need some more EdM though, since I drained my bottle.
Joe, as the day has gone on, I’m starting to wonder if this is really a new scent or just a collector bottle, because the name on the bottle is just Eau des Merveilles. We’ll see — I’ve been fooled before 😉

Can’t they leave well alone? The original is absolute perfection. Just because Jean-Claude didn’t create that one doesn’t mean he should keep fiddling with it.
Alice Charbin does wonderful bottles, loved the Constellation. And pray it will still be available in internet shops, it’s such a drag to go to the one and only Prague Hermes store every time and try fragrances with a massive bodyguard and two fidgety SA’s breathing down one’s neck.
