The way it is

Posted by Robin on 8 December 2011 11 Comments

This book was a great opportunity to show this business the way it is rather than romanticizing it to death like everybody does. It’s really very beautiful just the way it is.

— Frédéric Malle on his new book, On Perfume Making. Read more at Frédéric Malle | ‘On Perfume Making’ at the New York Times.

‘At one point, Malle had no choice but to trash the access perfumes.’?! LOL! Hope the book has been properly proofread.

And that’s the NYT. Makes me feel better about the state of things around here 😉

        LOL!

I would expect this kind of thing from the Guardian (their typos are legendary) not from such a respected US paper.

I do think they put a bit less care into their blogs, and this is from one of their blogs.

I had to re-read that sentence to realize what was going on, lol. Silly NYT. Also, is Portrait of a Lady really the “most iconic” fragrance of the line? not En Passant or Musc Ravageur?

It’s not old enough to be “iconic”, IMHO — not sure I’d use that term about any Malle scent, really.

I notice that my own spelling has deteriorated sadly as I’ve gotten more dependent on spellcheck (or at least I’d rather blame spellcheck than age, LOL).

Wow, a new FM in the works with Sophia Grojsman – that’s something to look forward to!

Ditto! Hope it is not another side project like Outrageous.
