Olivier Durbano has launched Citrine, the latest fragrance in the “Stone Poem Jewels” series:
The scent unfolds and reveals materials reflecting the color of the sun: bright Sicilian lemon introducing a citrus blast; sweet mimosa buds clustering on branches doused with pure sunlight; and warm amber solidifying solar energy. Notes of ginger and pink pepper further invigorate the golden notes with zest. Traces of precious woods and the finest Japanese incense complete the scent journey from inner flame to celestial light.
Additional notes include orange, carrot seeds, rosewood, gaiac wood, musk, myrrh, and beeswax.

hmmm. Sounds like a summer scent. I’m often struck by the release dates of perfumes. Often, they don’t make sense. L’Artisan was supposed to do a re-issue of an orange blossom scent that I was dying to sniff (and likely buy) in May. The SA told me it wouldn’t be out until August, but by then I was over big fat white florals (as I knew I would be). Do you think this is an industry standard? Or just production issues?
I don’t usually get the timing either, but clearly it’s not all aimed at seasons in the US & UK.
I was lucky enough to visit his atelier and chat with him about a year ago…my guess is it’s just the way creativity struck him and when he completed the perfume. I get the feeling that he does most of this on his own, according to his own fancies. That being said, though, if it’s coherent with the rest of his scents, it’s likely heavier than the notes list would make it seem.
