Aftelier Haute Claire

How do I get it: Leave a comment, telling us your favorite natural perfume, if you have one! If you don't, tell us the name of the last perfume you bought.

Be sure to use the “Post a comment” box; do not reply to another comment! Replies to comments will be deleted!

The contest will be open until noon or so on Monday, and I'll announce the winner on Wednesday.

The fine print: The winner will be selected randomly from the eligible entries. Don't enter the contest unless I have permission to use the email address in your reader account to contact you. My favourite natural is Fire and Cream by Strange Invisible Perfumes, but to be fair I haven’t tried many natural perfumes (not from lack of interest, though!).

I’d have to pick Pacifica’s Tibetan Mountain Temple. It’s my SSTA (Saturday, Spending Time Alone) perfume. And thanks to TJMaxx, I managed to get everything but the body cream recently (Including one of the small candles,) for under $15!

And I don’t care if it’s brain meltingly hot right now. I’m still wearing it on my Saturday mornings.

I guess my favorite “natural” fragrance, if I can call it that, was a rosemary infusion I made myself for my violin case, which was infested with bow bugs. (The bugs eat bow horsehair.)

I love Anya’s Garden, Temple, but not in the summer.

Hmmmm, not sure if DSH is a completely natural perfumer, but I love her work, especially the carnation one, whose name I always slaughter.

I just bought Bvlgari Au the Vert, which is the only thing that is getting me through this ungodly heat and humidity. I am so excited to have finally found a citrus to love! (I get almost all lime from it)

Thanks for a chance to win, and of course you have permission to use my email address.

I love Aftelier’s Tango and Fig– lovely and unique, the both of them. I also have unrequited love for SIP’s l’Invisible (why won’t you last longer on me…??!!) and am very curious about Abdes Salaam’s Hindu Kush.

Thanks for offering this up, I love Mandy’s perfumes!

    Hi,
I’m a first timer here, pls be kind.
After long deliberation have ordered L’Artisan’s Voleur De Roses and PG’s L’eau de Circe. Also splurged on my long time winter favourite THEOREMA (my old bottle will run out this winter) . Anxiously waiting for both orders to arrive.
Lately really–really interested in PG line: all of them have a high natural content, right? Here you go I’ve tackled both recommended topics!

    Hi Robin–
My most recent purchase was EL JWM.

You know, I come on NST and read pretty much every day, but sadly neglect to log in and comment…but I have you guys to thank (or perhaps blame…?) for a serious fragrance addiction…but some great ideas!

The last perfume I bought: decants of En Passant and Dzing! Looking forward to receiving them! En Passant would be lovely even in this heat!

I dont think ive ever bought a natural perfume because the price is just outrageous for most of them. The last purchase i did make was earlier this week, for a handful of travel sprays from Smell Bent. This included (Sunshine, The Spray Tan Incident, Incensed, Bollywood or Bust, Violet Tendencies, Never Never Land, Desperado, and Tibet Ur Bottom $)

My favorite natural perfume is Rich Hippie’s Kalachakra. Someone sent me a sample and it was love. Of course, at the price I never purchased a bottle or even another sample. Oh, I have and love Yosh Trompeur, too.

The only natural perfume I’ve tried was Vamp a NY, and I didn’t care for it at all. The last perfume I bought will be EL Bronze Goddess that I’m off to purchase right now. The Saks near me has three bottles left. Three!

I just sent in an order today for some samples from the Perfumed Court. Chanels & Diors that I have not smelled before, except for Chanel#5 Eau Premier, which I just smelled at Ulta and loved and tried to win on Ebay, but lost. So I ordered a larger sample to try before I buy a FB.

I am a newbie. My late husband (7 years gone tomorrow, sigh) used to buy me pefume for Christmas every year, most often Chanel. I miss him. And not just for the perfumes.

  30. Pinkster says:

Being relatively new to perfume, I haven’t tried any natural scents yet. The last perfume I bought was a bottle of Theo Fennell’s Scent on eBay for about $20. Totally worth it, it’s now one of my favorites in my (admittedly small) collection.

I haven’t had very much experience with naturals, but my favorites thus far have been Aftelier’s Lumiere, followed closely by Rich Hippie’s Maharishi.

Last perfume bought – Jacomo’s Art Collection No. 8!

  32. RusticDove says:
    22 July 2011 at 1:59 pm

Last purchase – Hermes Eau de Pamplemousse Rose.

Favorite natural perfume is L’Artisan Cote d’Amour, which I am loving in the heat. Also recently received several samples from Soivohle and will be trying more of that line. Also a fan of SIP Fire and Cream and Magazine Street.

I’m newly registered here (long-time lurker coming out!) and my email is fine to use.

I haven’t tried many naturals, but I love A Wing & A Prayer’s Muse and also Laughter. My last purchase of perfume was a sample group from Liz Zorn. While I haven’t tried all of them yet, Leather Krem is a standout.

I have an old vial of amber vanilla essential oil that I find to be a lovely comfort scent. Oh, and my last bottle of perfume was a vintage splash bottle of Chanel Egoiste found on eBay.

  41. kjanicki says:
    22 July 2011 at 2:21 pm

I don’t really have a favourite natural. I like some of the Opus Oils, but I think they are mixed. The last perfume I bought was Chanel Bois des Iles.

  42. Absolute Scentualist says:
    22 July 2011 at 2:24 pm

My favorite natural perfume is Liz Zorn Nightjar Absolute, closely followed by a tie between Lilacs & Heliotrope and Daybreak Violin. This area of perfume has grown more intriguing to me in recent months and I can’t wait to try out more natural perfumers. Oh, MCMC Fragrance’s Humanity, which I think was all natural, is gorgeous, too, and been one of my go-to perfumes often this summer.

  43. Lavanya says:

The last two perfumes I bought (I bought them together on Wednesday at a thrift store) were partial bottles of Jil Sander 4 and Paris Fleur de Parfum. I don’t have any natural perfumes but I once showed up on Mandy Aftel’s doorstep in North Berkeley hoping that she had some kind of studio/storefront I could see. (The business is mail order only, I learned from a man who answered the line.) That’s how devoted to perfume I am — I’m making pilgrimages…:) You can use my email. Thanks for the draw.

  49. Daisy says:

this sounds very good…galban-YUM and sweet orange, clary sage? I haven’t tried any of her fragrances…but now I’m chomping at the bit!

Last fragrance I bought? Costes 2 and it just got here today! It’s reminding me of Donna Karan Iris…which I also love.

Most recent thing I’ve tested? Amouage Honour Man….haven’t checked the notes but I’d bet cash-money that one of them is rose…the rose that always seems to end up in Amouage men’s scents turns to acetone on me and it’s in this in spades. Too bad , because other from that, this is really nice. 🙁

last perfume I bought Gucci Envy

  51. cinnamonster says:
    22 July 2011 at 3:13 pm

Fire and Cream is my favourite, although I also have not tired many naturals. It makes me think of a picture I have from Portugal when I was younger and behind me is a field of tall plants almost in silhouette and the sky is filled full of a sunset like the sky is truly on fire, and that is what I see in my mind when I smell it. The last perfume I bought was TKO by BPAL, and I am not sure being an aromatherapy one if that is also a natural, or whether it has non-natural ingredients, but I enjoy very much falling asleep to the smell of purple lavender marshmallows!

  52. Zee says:
    22 July 2011 at 3:18 pm

My favorite natural is Kewdra from Anya’s Garden. I can’t be without it and hope that she eventually makes it into an EDP so I can wear it more greedily.

I know we’re not supposed to reply to other comments but I was disappointed to see many folks listing non-naturals as their favorite naturals. Just shows that more work must be done to educate the public.

  54. odonata9 says:

I don’t think I have any all natural perfumes, but maybe Pacificas? I think they are labeled natural, but not sure how they could be at that price. I love their Lotus Garden, Indian Coconut Nectar, Tibetan Mountain Temple, and Brazilian Mango Grapefruit. Coincidentally, they are the last things I bought (several solids and a roll-on).

  55. Merlin says:
    22 July 2011 at 3:25 pm

Hi, u haven’t mentioned if this one is open to those outside the US (or if U did, I didn’t see it). So I’m taking my chances…
My last purchase was an Arpege tester – I love Arpege and it was a great price! I don’t think I’v tried an indie, unless Andy Tauer counts, but I think he uses synthetics too.

  56. Sydscents says:

The last perfume I bought was a decant of Parfum d’Empire’s Osmanthus Interdite. Still waiting for it in the mail and can’t wait to get it! And before that, I got L’Artisan’s Tea for Two from their recent sale. =)

Last natural perfume purchase: Pacifica’s Indian Coconut Nectar. Good lord, what an addictive scent. I am not a gourmand person, but this is lovely. The body cream is some of the best I’ve ever used — I’m not exaggerating. That said, these sound like lovely notes and I’d love to win this frag.

I love this brand! Orange Sanguine is so refreshing in this heat – I’ve had people in the afternoon say “you smell good” quite a complement when you’ve melted down. And Vanille Insense is wonderful as well and works great in the heat too. I’m very impressed with the stay power of this brand. I’m a fan – can’t wait to buy more!

The last perfume I bought was Jlo Miami Glow for cheap. Such a fun scent that actually smells like something I would wear to a beach.

I’m curious about the Haute Claire after reading Victoria’s review of this scent. I’m still pretty new to green fragrances (I think that is how V categorized this scent). 🙂

My favorite natural perfume (so far) is SIP’s L’Invisible. I’m also very fond of the the pre-blended essential oil blend called Tranquility by Aura Cacia. It’s mainly patchouli and a few drops in body butter work great as a fragrance.

The only line of natural perfumes I’ve smelled is Alec Lawless’s Essentially Me perfumes. They were all very interesting, but many of them I found hard to wear. For some reason they felt a bit heavy-handed, and I’m not sure that I have a favorite.

Thus, I’ll answer the second questions: Embarrassingly, the most recent fragrance I purchased was the original Stetson. It is cheap and gorgeous!
