Each of the 8 aromas are unleashed

Posted by Robin on 27 June 2011 7 Comments

With each individual admission ticket, kids and parents will also receive an Aromascope card...As the numbers flash on the movie screen the audience will rub the corresponding number on their card. When each of the 8 aromas are unleashed you will get to experience a special moment in the film and be transported into scenes in the family adventure film. This fun added attraction takes the audience beyond sight and sound and into a symphony of scents as the movie is coming to life.

Oh yes, in a true drama, the audience wants to break from its “suspension of disbelief” (i.e., absorption in the story) to go pull out a card, read it to locate the right smell and then sniff.

I doubt that much suspension of belief happens in a Spy Kids movie though 😉

One of John Waters’m movies was “filmed in Odorama”. I seem to remember a number flashed on the screen during a scene of breakfast with bacon and you were to smell that number on the card.

I also remember that it went progressively downhill, tastewise, from there.

They’ve done this on a smaller scale (only in a few locations) for a couple of recent movies, including the Depp Charlie & The Chocolate Factory…but for those, the scent was piped in.

    It was the infamous Polyester.

Indeed. And I thought the press release was an exact rip off of the commentary of Polyester.

OMG, Smellovision! I think I’m going to have to take a pass. Wearing vintage Shalimar EDT today and am very happy with this smell.
