Tobias Wong’s The Times of New York candle

Posted by Robin on 25 June 2011 6 Comments

Tobias Wong's The Times of New York candle

A limited edition candle, conceived by the late Tobias Wong and inspired by the New York Times:

The scent of the candle is newsy, with hints of guaiacwood, cedar, musk, and spice. Characterized by "a powdery note and velvet nuance," the scent is meant to mimic the aroma of black ink on newsprint.

$65 at Project No. 8.

My dad was a newspaper archivist. When I was a kid I think our house would have smelled like newspapers a lot of the time. Wonder how evocative this candle really is?

I wonder too. If I was sure it was strong, I would buy…

Have to say I’m a little haunted by this, since the physical newspaper itself (and its smell) seem to be on the way out.

      Exactly! It’s a great idea.
