Amouage Honour ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 19 June 2011 39 Comments

Amouage Honour

Amouage has launched Honour, a new fragrance duo:

‘Honour’, the latest set of fragrances from the house of Amouage unfold the tale of love and betrayal, hope and despair, characterised by Giacomo Puccini's most heartfelt and evocative masterpiece, Madame Butterfly.

Honour Woman ~ "Honour Woman is a lavish and sophisticated white floral mélange that captures the tragic predicament of Madame Butterfly. Each ingredient embraces a plethora of emotion and meaning – sweet tuberose represents danger; jasmine, attachment; gardenia, secret love and lily of the valley, purity of heart. A harmoniously rich resin base of frankincense, amber and opoponax injects dimension, depth and complexity." Additional notes for the floral fragrance include pepper, rhubarb leaves, coriander, carnation, vetiver and leather.

Honour Man ~ "Honour Man from the house of Amouage resonates with a spicy and woody blend that invokes memories of the past, heightened by conflicting accords of pink berry and exuberant black pepper. A filial elegy to the memory of Madame Butterfly, notes of elemi and geranium in the heart expose an opulent and evocative earthy base of patchouli, frankincense, vetiver and tonka beans." Additional notes for the spicy woods scent include nutmeg, cedarwood and musk.

Amouage Honour Woman and Honour Man can be found now at Selfridges in the UK, in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum. (via selfridges)

So. . .if two people in close proximity spray these on, they feel an overwhelming desire to duel?

Yay! I’m always excited to try a new Amouage since by and large they tend to work for me. Very curious to sniff their interpretation of a white floral.

Great, thanks, I had no idea! I’m going to Google and see what they have to say. The comment below about it being soft and creamy prickled up my ears even more. Maybe this will be the perfect summer floral I’ve been going on about for so long. Must schedule my next visit to Selfridges 😀

Is Ciel by Amouage a white floral? I thought it was and it was horribly trashed by Luca Turin, but on me it is stunning, delicate and totally full bottle worthy. Might also be worth a try if you’re looking for a white floral from the house of Amouage.

Must try Honor for women! It sounds gorgeous and I can never have too many big white florals.

I really like almost every Amouage I’ve tried, although Memoir was the only one to inspire an actual bottle purchase; though I dislike white florals in general, I have a good feeling that Honour may find a home in my cabinet next to M… can’t wait to test it!

Is there a US release date posted yet?

I managed to get hold of samples of both Honour Man & Woman. I haven’t spent much time trying Man but I’m head over heels in love with Woman. It’s quite soft for an Amouage (a big blousy white floral this is not), the florals are very creamy and it has a slightly sweet/sour tone to the top notes, I think due to the rhubarb & pepper. The base is beautiful flowers and incense. Must. Get. A. Bottle.

Darn. I was just ramping up to buy a bottle of Dia, and now this! I LOVE Amouage fragrances…. I wonder how this differs from Dia (isn’t it also a white floral?)

oooooooo….Dia is my #1 all time favorite fragrance…..you must purchase Dia!!! (and the body cream–is to DIE for!!)
I don’t think Dia is a “white” floral….floral yes, but it seems very “golden” to me.

Dia was the very first Amouage I smelled and it was instant love. It’s been on my FB list ever since. I’m trying to make my sample last as long as humanly possible but I’ll have to finally pull the trigger once that runs out.

Oh and I consider it a classic aldehydic floral, in the same mould as No5, etc.

I tend to shy away from white florals. I’ve tried many Amouage scents, and the only one I’ve tried that I love is Epic Woman, which I wear regularly and it often gets compliments. Honour Man sounds like it might be more my kind of scent — patchouli and spicy woods got my attention!

I am so IN on that split, Daisy! I was going to split this myself, as soon as it came to Bergdorf Goodman. Let me know if you want a hand!

NUM! I cannot resist Amouages and I love white florals and this one sounds DANGEROUS!

Now I’ll be in a quandary about what to wear the next time I go see a Madama Butterfly – Honor or Mitsouko? Fortunately, it’s not among my subscription for the next season. 🙂

Honor for Her sounds interesting, and I quite like most all of the Amouage women’s stuff.

Honor for Him? Not so interesting. Pink berry and black pepper…yawn….

I tried this yesterday (the for Her) and initially it smelled like Anais Anais (Cacharel) until it dried down to a light oud-y note typical from Amouage. IMHO, there is nothing new here. Between this and Lyric Woman, I’ll take the Lyric anytime!

mmm. just got my first smell of this. great opening notes that last all of 5 minutes….and then kind of flat…nothing very exciting after the top notes…pity, they were great! I’lle stick to jubilation 25 as my no 1

Please tell me, dear Amouage lovers, which one do you recommend to someone who has never tried any of them.

And, please tell, what is “Dia”?

This is a very old article so not sure anybody will see your question, sorry! You can find my favorites just by looking at the reviews. Dia is an Amouage fragrance.
