Tauer Perfumes Verdant, Auburn & White ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 15 June 2011 32 Comments

Tauer Perfumes Verdant fragrance

Tauer Perfumes will launch three fragrances, Verdant, Auburn and White, later this week. They are the first in a new series, the Pentachords:

How many ingredients do you need to create a beautiful and distinctive fragrance? Andy Tauer answers this question with his PENTACHORDS line of perfumes. Every pentachord perfume comprises five notes only. Every note is one molecule. The reduction to the minimum demands for the most selective ingredients of highest quality. By removing everything that is superfluous, Andy Tauer creates a modern library of scents that is far beyond the ordinary.

Each pentachord is a melody that plays on five notes. The reductionist approach brings out effects that are extraordinary.

Verdant (shown) ~ "The lush green of ivy forests. It is the melody of dark green leaves with gleaming water pearls in the forest after a summer rain. The sweetness of damp earth melts into elegant suave leather. A fantasy of fine smoke and tobacco complements vibrant amber lasting all day long." In Eau de Cologne concentration.

Auburn ~ "The cupric warmth of cinnamon. Auburn is the melody of warm cinnamon in accord with a citrus tree in rich bloom. The softest sandalwood melts into dry amber and subtly adds depth to the perfume. A warm spicy tobacco closes the oriental round dance and starts it again." In Eau de Parfum.

White ~ "The clear melody of royal Iris. The exclusive fragrance of dried Iris root plays with silvery violet flowers in a white clean garden. This classic Iris with its crisp beauty is complemented by the warmth of dry wood from a rosewood tree. A hint of mysterious amber gris decorates it and adds an expensive note to the fine Bourbon Vanilla ornamenting the white Iris." In Eau de Parfum.

Tauer Perfumes Verdant, Auburn and White will be available in 50 ml, around $140 each. They will be exclusive to Campomarzio 70 in Rome until September. (via press release)

Update: see a review of Verdant and another of White.

These sound fantastic, can’t wait to try! Still haven’t even tried Orange Star or Zeta yet… I’m way behind on my Tauers. 🙁

Better get to work or you’ll get way behind! (like me, LOL, although I am caught up on Tauer)

Not as behind as me: I’ve never smelled any Tauers at all. 🙁

I have really liked most of the Tauer line and I can’t wait to try samples of these, especially Auburn.

MUST TRY WHITE! I’ll be in Zurich later this month; I’m gonna try to visit Andy to see if I could… As Rachel Zoe would say, I die!

I adore those two as well, I also own LADM (mistake) and Incense Rose (love). That’s three solid winners (for me) from one line – pretty good.

These all sound so lovely, and the concept is really fine too. I am hit or miss with the Tauer line, but this reminds me that I should spend some time catching up!

So will I – or better yet, a sample of each first, before springing for the full bottle. (Better safe than sorry).

Must try these lovely sounding scents! I am hit or miss with the Tauer line as well, but when it’s a hit, it’s divine.

I was slavering instantly when I first heard about these a little while ago. I still need to try Zeta, so I imagine a new sample set will be in order when he’s got these on his site. I love the concept of a pare-down.

They all sound good! And is sounds like he is taking a much lighter approach. I get overwhelmed by the “tauerade” he uses in the base and all his scents have been too dense and claustrophobic, for me. I’m really looking forward to try these. Anyone going to Rome this summer to get these? 🙂

They are very dense. I can’t make up my mind if I like that or not. One good thing – they alst for ages on skin and so are very good value for money. Still, I’d like to try somethign from Tauer that is a bit moer spacious, so maybe Verdant would be worht a try.

Well since these won’t be available to me until September I’m going to have to tell my lemmings to just settle down! They all sound terrific, but I’ve been really looking forward to White. And I love the clear bottles.

Every single one is a must-try for me. So excited about them! I was thinking I’d save up for a bottle of Orange Star, but I may need to save for these instead.

These all sound like scents that I would enjoy. I’m so impressed by the ad copy: clear, concise, free of claptrap and hyperbole – respectful of the reader. I also love the color design of the variations on the bottle. So many lines could learn from Andy!

Funny thing; I just remembered that within the last year or so Haagen Dasz introduced a line of “five ingredient” ice creams. “All-natural ice cream crafted with only five ingredients for incredibly pure, balanced flavor… and surprisingly less fat!”, to quote their website. So five is the new magic number?

That line of Haagen Dasz ice cream is called “Five” and it is really wonderful ice cream. The ingredients are milk, cream, sugar, egg yolks, and a fifth ingredient for the flavor of the particular ice cream (cocoa for the chocolate, mint extract for mint, and so on.)

What surprises me about these Tauers is that they must be synthetics, as natural materials never consist of just one kind of molecule. It seems odd for a brand that has always relied on a large proportion of naturals.

I’ve tried the mint Five and loved it – then when I doublechecked the Haagin Dasz site yesterday, I saw that they had a lemon-flavored Five. It’s on my grocery list now. . .
