D&G Anthology La Temperance & Le Fou ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 31 May 2011 20 Comments

D&G Anthology La Temperance & Le Fou

Dolce & Gabbana will launch two more fragrances in the D&G Anthology series this year, 14 La Tempérance and 21 Le Fou. Like the others in the series, they were inspired by Tarot cards. Look for them in September.

14 La Tempérance ~ for women, representing the Temperance card. La Tempérance is a woody musk fragrance with ambrette, iris and musk.

21 Le Fou ~ for men, representing the Fool card (although in many decks, the Fool card is 0). An oriental fougère with bergamot, juniper berry and gingerbread.

D&G La Tempérance and Le Fou will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

I’m surprised by this. I was under the impression that the series isn’t very successful…but perhaps that’s only in the U.S.? And I could be totally wrong!

I don’t think they were very successful in the US at all. They have been pulled from most Macy’s. I know consumers tend to struggle with ‘unisex’ fragrances in the US – although truthfully some of these were not that unisex.

I find the original concept interesting, but the fragrances themselves have been somewhat lackluster. I’m surprised they would continue on the concept if it’s not doing well, but in some ways I admire them for continuing with the artistic vision.

or maybe they weren’t supposed to be unisex? or only some of them were? I dunno.

Unisex or not, I just thought they were all, well, boring.

There are something like 80 cards in a Tarot deck, and 22 are Major Arcana cards, which is what they’ve based the perfumes on so far. So, presumably we could see up to 22? I don’t care, I smelled 3 or 4 and then stopped.

It really does sound good, but so far, have not been impressed with this series.

Yes, I’m just behind because I went out of town for Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully I’ll catch up tomorrow.

I love tarot cards, so I wish this series was better, too. It could be so fun and unique if it had been handled differently. They have all been bland so far, though. Still might smell them if I see them in the store, of course.

I love Tarot, too, and I do wish they had been much more creative with the packaging. What a missed opportunity.

It was a great concept, but the scents have all been “meh” for me – not terrible, but not exceptional either, and none of them suited me well.

Wow, I’m the odd one out – I thought the series was a great idea, and quite liked them. 3 L’Imperatrice is my “cheer up” fragrance – when I’m feeling blah and lack energy, the citrus burst gets me moving. I’m quite looking forward to 14 La Temperance, sounds like it could be interesting. Wonder how long it will take to get out to Aus?

I think prolifertaion of parfumes makes them cheap.Although some of them could be interesting its the rule. And for european perfumes european union restriction on some natural ingredient make them fake and syntetic. I dont found a good perfume so ı must preserve my own old perfume tresor using them drop by drop…:))

I’m always seeing fragrances in this series at Winners (Cdn TJMaxx) but I’ve never seen them anywhere else to test.

They were originally marketed as unisex but didn’t work, now they are relaunching the series with genre indication on the packaging.
Overall I find them terribly plastic smelling..
