L'Artisan Parfumeur will introduce the Mon Numéro collection in June. The eight fragrances are variations of the semi-bespoke Mon Numero scents that debuted in 2009, and all were developed by perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour. Each scent will be exclusive to a particular retailer or L'Artisan boutique, but the collection will also be available online.
Mon Numéro 1 ~ "A prelude to the collection, imbued with a gentle poetry, Mon Numéro 1 fills the heart with a lightness of being. Like our emblematic fragrance Mûre et Musc, this bold, seductive, irresistibly indulgent blend of pear and mimosa conceals its hand behind an air of mischief. Mon Numéro 1, with its naughty, mischievous mood, is like your first perfume, fresh and delicate as a dress blowing in a spring breeze."
Mon Numéro 3 ~ "A number capturing the spirit of young adults: full of life, passion and character. The effervescence of youth is evoked by a resounding, intoxicating top note that recalls an alcoholic drink, but also the virile, sober, sensual side of vetiver, for a man (or indeed woman) of refined tastes. Mon Numéro 3, with its spirited mood, is a supremely elegant charmer."
Mon Numéro 4 ~ "A fog of memories, expressed through an unexpected contrast. A return to the past, where we rediscover the familiar perfume of barbers’ shops. Traditional lavender rubs against intoxicating leather. Mon Numéro 4, with its classic, nonchalant mood, has that reassuring je ne sais quoi, … like a well-tailored suit."
Mon Numéro 6 ~ "Inspired by our travels: evoking sensations of rebirth in which the first drops of rain give life back to the earth. Planet Earth – with all its sublime and powerful richness. An unusual, lucid harmony between green, fruity, watery, floral and woody notes. Mon Numéro 6 has a dreamy, leafy mood, imagine yourself barefoot on the ground in the midst of a monsoon."
Mon Numéro 7 ~ The journey continues with a visit deep inside an Indian temple. A necklace of tuberose and jasmine around your neck, a chai tea in your hand and a whiff of spices in the air. Mon Numéro 7, with its exuberant mood, is a fantasy in which colours, movements, textures and sacred odours swirl and merge, like a colourful sari.
Mon Numéro 8 ~ "Paying homage to a great classic of French perfumery, this enveloping scent has sweet, maternal tones, in which sublime iris is elegantly reassuring. At one time they had a very nice sampling program, but they discontinued it a couple of years ago. 🙁
One of my favorite houses, and favorite noses, but for some reason I’m not feeling very excited about this… There’s just too many and it seems a bit over-whelming. Especially since I’ve been doing so much sampling recently anyways.
Though 10 sounds like a must-try for me, I’ll probably skip sampling the rest. There’s only 2 wrists and 24 hours in a day 🙂
Agree about too many. Wish they’d dribble them out over time, and in smaller sizes.
I know, I know! I’m reading these thinking they are “prix eau faux” light or something. I’d need to sniff them all to tell. Too much foofy copy for sure. I’m surprised L’AP would do a big release like this considering that their recent releases the past few years have been so good. It seems like a lot of spaghetti. #8 Doesn’t say anything at all about the juice.

At least that one gives iris and powder; for #10 all we are told is that its an oriental – and not a single note given!
Oh boy, when will we have time to test all these? Obviously, we can’t live without sleep as Monsieur Duchaufour seems to do – given his omnipresence in the game. Well, I’m still looking for the perfect citrus so I’m rather eager to try number 9.
I don’t see how he possibly has time to sleep! They say these were developed over 2 years, but still, looks like he developed 100 other fragrances over those 2 years.

I smelled # 10 at Barneys in SF this weekend. The SA had it sprayed on a test strip which smelled really great. Unfortunately you can’t try it on skin yet because the store only had one small bottle.
Oh, we don’t need to know how it smells on the skin – after all, its just like a head-turning evening gown – here’s $$$$, I’ll take 2.

I love the L’Artisan line. However, I am not to keen on Bertrand Duchaufour creations because they do not work well with my chemistry. Does anyone else have difficulty with wearing his creations? He seems to be everywhere lately which bugs me a bit because no matter which line he is working for, there is always something in his creations that smells alike. Kind of like how Guerlain is known for its Guerlainade base. Same thing with Duchaufour. I get frustrated because the notes that are listed in his fragrances are so up my alley on paper. But when I try them on skin, it’s a whole other story.
But, yes, I will still sample them all when available. Hopefully I’ll be able to find one that agrees with me and doesn’t smell like all the rest. Hoping #7 will be my great find!

I too am BD challenged which is becoming more and more of a problem as he becomes more and more of an emblem.
P.s. I think it would have been neat to have a different nose for each number.

The numbers have changed but. the ones Paris seems to think will be the best sellers are #10, 4,9 and 7. I loved #1.They will be available online. Barneys will be the only bottle that is different. Yes, it is sublimely lovely. It is somewhat reminiscent of Dzongkha, but less incensey and spiritual. More sophisticated and subtle. It melded beautifully with my skin chemistry. It was my favourite from the ones I smelled in the London boutique – then again, it’s quite confusing when you’re smelling lots in one go. I’d like to revisit a few of the others (like the tuberose garland in an Indian Temple one……..but not the birth of the planet monsoon one!!!!)
