It’s kind of odd. What is that rope doing hanging down from the table at the end? What is that thing on the wall that they both look at mid-way through — it looks like a laundry chute, maybe?

I think what they’re looking at is the sun on the door of her room.
and what rope? I saw a table leg…and the round whitish leg of her vanity stool….I’ll go look again…for the rope.

Other from that it was quite the little early teen fantasy: spray this perfume and fly away with Justin Beiber…..ok…..next!

Look again, around :16. I swear there is a rope hanging down by the table leg.

Yes, there is a rope. Maybe they need it to tie them down so their love doesn’t make them float away into the universe? They can’t use a bed, so they use a table. I say, let them float away! Cute and harmless.

just not seeing it….wooden table leg…and two metal stool legs…there’s a horizontal shadow….I’m confused.

But I do not smell like Justin Bieber….I smell like LeLabo Santal 33, so life is good regardless of odd perfume ads….

            24 May 2011 at 7:12 pm

Ann, glad someone else sees it! And I’m sure you’re right, it’s to keep their love from floating away.

Okay …this is now going to drive me CRAZY! Ann…please explain where you are seeing a rope! I had J come in and look and she doesn’t see a rope either.

About the sun on the door….they show several shots and you’ll notice that there is a progression….the day has passed.

Someone, ANYONE describe this rope! (Robin, what have you done?)

My guess is that the part you are calling the one leg of her vanity stool, is what other people are seeing as a rope. There is a similar ‘projectile’ close by, so it probably is one of the legs.

            24 May 2011 at 6:57 pm

hahahaa well, you know, you gotta watch those one-legged vanity stools!

            24 May 2011 at 7:13 pm

OH! Merlin, you are right, it is the leg of her vanity stool. Amazing, I really saw that as a hanging rope.

And apologies to anyone who wasted time on this on my behalf! Although hey, you were already watching a Justin Bieber commercial 😉

            Robin,
As a result of your action I not only watched a Bieber advert – I STUDIED a Bieber advert. :-0

My theory is that unconscious Bieber aggression caused some people to construe the innocent leg of a stool as a piece of rope with which the two could be flogged as punishment for acting in a cliched advert for what is probably a cliched perfume.

I dont see the leg of a chair – I see a pair of electric prods!

YES! Electric prods! I see them! It’s all clear to me now…..thanks Merlin 🙂

The fact that Bieber looks twelve makes the whole ad look really awkward.

I saw a brief clip of him kissing his “older” girlfriend, Selena Gomez, at some music awards show the other night and I felt so squicky! I think she’s 19 but she looks like a little girl doll and the two of them looked like children play-acting in dress up. With cameras. I don’t know why I find it so creepy.

Yeah I saw them on TV at the Billboard Music Awards – it was definitely weird, he’s seventeen going on 13.

Oh, why are we all so old and crotchety? Don’t you remember falling for David Cassidy, Donnie Osmond, or whoever was the teen pop star of your decade? Justin Bieber is the current teen heart throb. He can sing. He has weird hair. History repeats itself. Teens are young and silly looking and awkward. We all went through it. But we all look back and go, really??? What were we thinking??? Ha ha.

      THANK YOU KARIN!
Goodness you guys all sound like such haters of the young.
It is temporary , can’t fault him for being awkward and cute.
I see what you guys are seeing but having four daughters from the ages of 17,15,13 and 7 I have infinite patience as required for such a task! I like Justin, my girls adore him .
I had to sit through the movie, rented it last night and would take my girls to his concert if I could. Doubt they will like his fragrance (having a perfumista mama, they are a BIT more refined I’m afraid lol )
But yes people Ima Bieliber! 😀

Lief Garret (spelling?) was the heart throb when I was a teen, as was Shaun Cassidy, David’s brother. I didn’t fall for them but I remember the excitement. So yes, maybe we could lighten up here and think back to our own youth.

The ad is well-made and the perfume bottle is pretty, never mind how derivative it is. And no doubt the perfume is pretty too.

Thanks for the reality check, you are spot on!
And I say this as a former NKOTB fan who also loved Def Leppard, Tommy T and my total favorite heart throb GEORGE MICHAEL. I cannot tell you how many times I watched the “Faith” video.

My kids would be ashamed of me if they knew I was bagging on the Beiber – “Baby, Baby” is a car ride staple to and from school – both the original version, the Kidz Bop version and the Glee cast version.

Hey, we all made it somehow through adolescence so we DESERVE to be old and crotchety if we like…

I guess I don’t get it because I’ve never had crushes on guys my own age. I had a crush on Gene Simmons (with makeup) and Harrison Ford when I was 5. Barry Gibb for most of the late 70s. Even my crushes (yes, multiple) on the boys from Duran Duran were still 10+ years older than me. This is probably because I am the youngest of five and my closest sibling is six years older. I always had crushes on my brothers’ friends. 😛
