Emanuel Ungaro has launched Diva Rose, a modern variation on 1982's Diva. Diva Rose is a woody floral chypre, and is described as soft and romantic.
Diva Rose was developed by perfumer Olivier Cresp; the notes include bergamot, lychee, green leaves, rose, freesia, lilac, woods, amber and musk.
Ungaro Diva Rose is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

That bottle is so pretty…and this is calling to me. I think it’s because in Angela’s review of L’Arte di Gucci the other day, Ungaro Diva also was mentioned several times….so I was thinking about that…and now this one. Woody, and Chypre sound always sound good to me and now rose too? Is this available yet? has anyone tried it who could chime in with an evaluation?
I was just thinking similarly. I’ve never smelled the original Diva either and have been thinking about it a lot since Angela’s review of L’Arte…. The bottle is pretty. It sounds pretty, though too much freesia is not good for me.
There is a definite resemblance between Diva and L’Arte. Diva is spicier and woodier and L’Arte is (what I call) jammier but also smoother. Angela compared Diva to Paloma Picasso in a post several years back. Would you and Ann like a sample?

I am with you on the bottle being lovely, but the wood scares me.
Lately, anything that mentions wood in the notes becomes overwhelming on my skin.

I have not tried it, and I so rarely see new Ungaro scents…don’t know what their current distribution arrangements are in the US.
They’ve released a duo of fragrances thru Avon and that wad the last I heard from them. Perhaps the Avon deal was non-exclusive… Or perhaps it was the opposite, and this is also made by Avon but focusing more on the Ungaro brand… I would usually play Private Eye over google but I’ll pass… Long day ahead and I rather stay in bed as much as I can! Hehehehe
Oh, those w/ Avon are definitely not exclusive. I think that’s true of all their designer scents. NOT the celebrity scents though…those are generally exclusive.

I remember the initial years after Diva was introduced – every program at the Metropolitan Opera had a scent strip attached to a full-page add. Those scent strips were strong enough to scent you for the evening! I think even the Lincoln Center gift shop was selling it (and the Tosca perfume).
I seem to know nothing about Ungaro fragrances, but this bottle has got my lemming going….. well, as long as it’s under about $300 a bottle- which seems to be the going rate for “fine fragrances” today.
Has anyone tried Fleur de Diva? I’m sure it’s not the powerhouse that the original is but I hope it’s not too watery either.
Fleur de Diva has very little in common with Diva; while the bottle is similar, except it is frosted glass vs clear glass, it is a very light, inoffensive floral. Not bad, but not extraordinary or noteworthy, either/
I have worn Diva since it’s inception, and despite a now much larger fragrance wardrobe, it is still in my top favorites. It is fairly strong, well-constructed chypre and is in the same “family” as Paloma Picasso and Salvador Dali Dali, though not quite as sweet as Dali and not quite as delicate as Picasso. I am interested in the new release, but the woodsy element scares me a bit…I probably will sucombe to tentation just because it is Diva..
