Cooked cabbage

Posted by Robin on 27 April 2011 7 Comments

Bad water, cooked cabbage or well-hidden Easter eggs — from 2010.

Once it got a whiff of the strange smell spreading across the downtown core Tuesday morning, the Twitterverse wasted no time devising possible explanations.

— There was a bad smell in Toronto yesterday. Read more at Pungent mystery ‘perfume’ wafts through downtown at the Toronto Star.

Gee, New York City smells like maple syrup, and we smell like rotten cabbage. For the record, I didn’t smell it; and my windows were (and still are) wide open.

I’d take the maple syrup! But glad you didn’t have to smell it 🙂

It’s not just the Maple Leafs – it’s the stink of all the MLSE-owned franchises… and maybe the poor old Blue Jays, too. We Canucks are too polite to demand any sort of results from our sports teams. Hope Chris Bosh is enjoying South Beach…

You know I have no clue what you’re talking about, except it seems to be about sports. Which I have no clue about, no matter what the city.

I don’t know that much, but I wish I knew less. We listen to a lot of sports radio in our house – not my choice. I didn’t smell anything, by the way, but think the stink is really going to turn out to be related in some way to the very heavy rains we had yesterday.

The part about the Easter eggs reminded me of an episode from my childhood. My mother wouldn’t hide Easter eggs (the real kind) outside, as she was afraid they would get dirty and be unsafe to eat , so she hid them in the house. That was fine except for the one year when we came up one egg short. We turned the house upside down, and none of us could find it. Let’s just say that we found it eventually, some weeks later, when it made its presence known. 🙂
