Eau d’Italie Jardin du Poete ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 17 March 2011 28 Comments

Eau d'Italie Jardin du Poete perfume

Italian niche line Eau d'Italie will launch Jardin du Poète, a unisex fragrance inspired by Sicily, next month:

This fragrance was a challenge to the husband and wife team behind Eau d’Italie, Marina Sersale and Sebastian Alvarez; could they create a fragrance using classic Italian notes like bitter orange and basil, yet remain faithful to Eau d’Italie’s philosophy of being deliciously original and uncompromisingly contemporary?

Indeed they could with the help of perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour and two years of intense development.

The notes feature orange, grapefruit, basil, angelica, immortelle, pink pepper, cypress, vetiver and musk.

Eau d'Italie Jardin du Poète will be available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (via pitchengine)

Update: see a review of Jardin du Poète.

Pleased to see this as the Eaud’Italie line seems to have vanished from the UK and I wasn’t sure if it had also vanished from other countries. Whilst I don’t wear it I think Paestum (spelling?) Rose is lovely. And this sounds gorgeous. And, oh look! it’s BD – can’t really go wrong 🙂

Really, nobody has it? What a shame! I would have thought Les Senteurs or somebody would carry the line. But for me too, Paestum Rose is really the only one I love.

Donalicola, the last time I was at Liberty in London they still stocked the line. No Pasetum Rose though. Not sure about now – it was at least 6 months ago that I was last there.

Thanks for mentioning it! I’ve been there more recently than that and couldn’t find the line but it has got crowded in there so I might have missed it.

Liberty havn’t had it for a while – but I just discovered that Les Senteurs have just started carrying the range!!! So it IS available in the UK again! Hallelujah!!

I hear that they are coming to Les Senteurs in the near future…

I feel like I’m being buried under Duchaufour releases! And unfortunately for my wallet, I’m falling for far too many of them. This one sounds perfect for summer — I love the scent of basil.

It is definitely getting overwhelming…seems like a bad idea to do so many in one year.

It almost makes one wonder how it is even possible to do so many in one year… (and still do them well).

Wondering if many of these recent BD creations were in development over a period of time (as they say here – 2 years), and the releases are just happening to coincide?

I’m sure that is true, it’s just that the idea of it starts to lose its luster, if you know what I mean.

Karin, I think you’re probably right. Nevertheless, the number of niche BD creations on the market now is really starting to make me giggle. I mean, Kurkdjian had to start his own line. BD just took over everyone else’s… Relieved that I like his stuff (Paestum Rose is one of my serious loves, and have a full bottle Nuit de Tubereuse) but sheesh…

I like basil, too, and Duchaufour, and Eau d’Italie. Love the basil note in Magnolia Romana!

I’ve loved several from this line, so will definitely want to try it. The notes sound a little odd… but that rarely means anything, does it? 🙂

I prefer the old, cylindrical bottle. This one looks like it would be painful to hold.

I can’t get used to the squareness of the new look either… I still have an older bottle of Paestum Rose, which is one of my great loves.

I’m with you there, Poucette. That is simply an ugly design.

Poucette, I agree with you. In fact, I think the ugliness of the bottles (square or round) has kept me from hitting the “add to cart” button so far. I find Paestum Rose and Sienne L’Hiver really interesting. Maybe large decants are the way to go with this brand!

This is one of those lines that doesn’t ever work for me. Last year, with Au Lac, I really wanted to love it. It was another disaster on me. I’ve given up on Eau d’Italie.

We’re reaching the point where we’ll have to get excited by the fact that a perfume is NOT by Bertrand Duchafour. ‘NBBD’ after the name, perhaps?

      LOL!!
I know what you mean, but I love Duchafour’s creations. I own full bottles of Paestum Rose and Nuit de Tubereuse, and they are my go-to scents.

Lafco New York carries this line, so I am assuming they will carry the product. They also carry the Santa Maria de Novella (sp?) product line and will do free shipping in the Continental US for any orders over $150. They have a store on Melrose Place in West Hollywood, which is just a short walk from Sweet Lady Jane’s, a great bakery. If you stop by Lafco in West Hollywood go over to Sweet Lady Jane’s and have a piece of their Chocolate Old Fashioned cake. It’s made with real Belgian chocolate…you will thank me.

It’s funny, there aren’t any Duchaufours that I wear regularly, but I find them so interesting that I want them anyway. I’ll try this one sooner or later. At the moment, though, I’m most interested in trying his new Frapin.
