All joking aside it’s sad that both sides could not come to a deal. George represents a demographic that I think the industry should try to reach – he’s older yet still projects an attractive masculine image. I admire him for his work with Darfur and he has spoken out about human rights in China. The image of masculinity that the fragrance industry conveys is skewed heavily toward a young pretty boy look that I find completely unappealing. George is a talented, serious man who is not trying to look like he’s still 20.

Well, that’s assuming both sides even talked about a deal! Or that if they did, they didn’t agree. I would not bank anything either way on a gossip item in the NYP.

I do agree he’s a talented man, and for his own sake, I hope he never sullies his image by launching a celebrity perfume.

It kind of sounded, from what little was there, that he really wasn’t that interested in doing one anyway. Clooney seems to not be of the same PRwhore mindset as a lot of the people out there, I never would have imagined he’d be talking about a celeb fragrance in the first place. Sounded like someone had a “brilliant” idea, contacted Coty, then decided “Oh! I’d better get approval from Clooney!” Making a ridiculous demand that you know can’t or won’t be met is (for some reason) seen as less embarassing than having to back out.

I wonder what he normally wears? He has that super elegant Cary Grant thing going on. I can see why he didn’t want to cave on the price – he can’t be showing up in the bargain bin at TJ Maxx. But I also agree with VanMorrison above – a non-teen/sports/music star male would be nice in the market. I would be even more impressed if he came up with a deal for proceeds to go to a charity dealing with one of his human rights issues.

No idea. I read somewhere ages ago that he wears Carthusia Mediterraneo, but I figure you have to take these kinds of reports — even if they come right from the celebrity in question — with a huge grain of salt.

I read that too although I can’t remember where.

Isn’t this the same as that anecdote about the woman who would have sex with a man for 1 million $, and when he offered her one dollar she shrieked “Sir what type of woman do you think I am?”

His reply, “We’ve already established what type of woman you are, now we’re just haggling about the price.”

      Exactly.
But then again, I’m not exactly a Cloony fan. Yeah I find the distinguished look attractive, but his repertoire seems pretty much limited to that.

Scents based on his movies would be interesting. For some reason “O Brother, Where Art Thou” comes to mind.

Would that be “Dapper Dan”? I picture a very retro ad campaign for that one:)

LOL!!! Clooney as a celebrity kind of gets on my nerves… He just seems incredibly self-righteous & self-satisfied to me. I enjoy many of his films and do think he’s a talented actor… but… ugh. Clooney perfume, not so much. Dapper Dan perfume, ALL THE WAY!! 🙂
