Is it bad that I like it? Haha. It sure is long. But hey I love her and I love the scent. : )

I like the idea, but I think it’s a tad long … my attention started to flag.

Impressed Parlux is putting this much $ into a Rihanna scent though…

As am I. But then again maybe they used it all on the commercial. Haha. Her samples are little bubbles and her blotters don’t even have Reb’l Fleur on it and just say Rihanna. I hate those bubble samples! : (

Yeah, those bubble samples are an utter waste of time.

            What are these bubble samples?

          • Robin says:
            11 February 2011 at 4:57 pm

It’s a plastic bubble filled with liquid attached to a paper card, as opposed to a vial of liquid. It’s generally only done with cheaper fragrances.

I kind of agree with you Robin. When the two bottles of her fragrance started sliding up and down her thighs, I think it should have ended there.

But at least it is far better than that Kardashian mess. the only thing I didn’t like was her hair color, but I supposed that’s keeping with the rebellious image.

Not a big fan of Rihanna’s music, or of the ad – except that I like the colors. Peach and dark green… and *I* want a gigantic woman-eating flower bed like that…

Agreed on the bed, Mals! But I’m a huge Busby Berkeley fan.

It’s all wrong for her to emerge from the flower with that thing on her head, though. She should be naked, or at least wearing something that makes her look a little more naked…

I am totally with you on the flower bed. Where can I get one? Actually I really enjoyed that part and I was thinking this is way better than the Kardashian Lodum debacle, but then she got off the bed and it was all down hill (in forward and reverse) from there!

Yes, it was the flower-feather bed part that I liked.

I’m with mals et al, above. I loved the first 30 seconds – but then maybe they felt it was too typical for a perfume commercial. Get rid of the dude, get some big green-black feather fans and go a bit more “Black Swan” and they might’ve had something.

It looked like a giant pink cabbage – and I’m not referring to her hair.
But since we’re on the subject- Rihanna I realize you are young and want to play with different styles, but stealing Raggedy Ann’s is NOT the way to go. It takes a really beautiful woman to rock short hair and you have done it before. Go back!
    B**chy much? 😉

I really liked the palindromic aspect but the whole “storyline” is creepy. It’s also especially ill-fitting for the perfume.

Speaking of ill fitting. . .
Was I the only one distracted by the lack of coverage on her breasts?

(Sorry if this is somehow an inappropriate question. . .)

It wasn’t so much the lack of coverage for me, it’s that it seemed that the dress didn’t fit right. They could have made every bit as revealing but still properly fitted. Looked sloppy to me.

You’re probably right. If it was really nicely fitted, I probably wouldn’t be quite as distracted. After all, not generally offended by breasts or decolletage.

Don’t really like it. I don’t know what’s going on here but nothing matches and she wasn’t “Reb’ling” or anything. Her bottle is black and gold, the ad has her in a light purple top with beet red hair and the commercial is all different colors. Too many hands in the pot! Everything is different and nothing matches.

Though I’m rather sick of All-Rihanna All-the-time, the commercial was interesting (what was she doing with that bottle and wouldn’t that be an interesting bottle shape!?) I would give the perfume a sniff, but I doubt it will be available here. Celebrity fragrances usually are not.

At first I loved the image of the pulsating feather-flower enclosing our heroine: unusual; reminded me of art school. It could have stopped there; instead it went on… and on… and on. Too bad.

I think this add should have stopped after the feather flower bed and the haze of allergy inducing feather/pollen ensuing. The product placement with the hands was uber-tacky. That bottle is awful. Wish it were prettier but it had me for like 20 seconds.

I found the handgun tattoos very off-putting. I found the giant, pulsating, rotten, man-eating cabbage off-putting. I especially found all the hands on her off-putting.

The entire thing had a nightmare-like quality to me.

I rather like the name, though.

That “bad feels good, good feels so bad” theme is really cringe-inducing, given her history with Chris Brown.

NozKnoz- I agree. But sex sells though when all else fails.
Even though I am WAY out of the age range of Rihanna’s fan base, I do however find her talented. She seems to be very chameleon like in her work.

I realize it’s part of her job to look sexy, but sexy doesn’t have to be degrading and tacky. I wish she had better stylists advice. Her beauty and talent deserve a better presentation. Beyonce would never be caught dead in that red wig!
