Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Havane ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 3 February 2011 27 Comments

Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Havane

Thierry Mugler will launch A*Men Pure Havane, a new limited edition fragrance for men inspired by prestige cigars. A*Men Pure Havane is a flanker to 1997's A*Men, and follows two recent variations on the "Pure" theme, 2008's A*Men Pure Coffee and 2009's A*Men Pure Malt.

A*Men Pure Havane is an oriental tobacco; the notes feature tobacco honey accord, patchouli, cacao, amber, styrax and labdanum.

Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Havane will be available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (via parfum-homme.prime-beaute)

Oh this sounds fabulous (as long as its not too ambery). I very much liked Pure Malt and Pure Coffee and wondered if they would come up with anything else – honey tobacco might be even better.

I really liked coffee! I’m not a huge tobacco fan, but will certainly give this a shot, they’ve done a great job so far.

I agree. I don’t mind amber as long as it blends well with other notes. I hate to have it as a note so profound that that is the only thing you smell.

Can’t wait to smell this! It sounds delicious…
*scribbling it on my “to investigate” list* 😉

I am glad to see I am not alone. I have an investigative list that’s up to 2 full pages now!

Whereas, I keep forgetting to write them down. Disappointing for my nose, but great for my wallet. 🙂

Sounds dreamy indeed. Can’t wait to sniff it out. Maybe it will be available in NYC somewhere and sometime this month?

I wish I could remember how long the other 2 took to appear…I do think both of them were early spring launches, but wouldn’t swear to it.

Yes! Finally a flanker I am excited about!
I love the original A*men – it’s the only Mugler fragrance I wear – and having missed out on the other two flankers I will be all over this one.

    Oh dammit dammit dammit.

I had sworn not to buy any new scents in 2011, but I HAVE TO HAVE THIS. I don’t even need to smell it. I love the first two flankers immoderately and I am going to love this as well.

Love the cigar-band packaging, too. (Pure Coffee was done up to resemble a vacuum-pack foil pouch of coffee: the Mugler artistic team really know what they’re doing.)

A*Men and the earlier flankers managed to completely escape my attention. I see them mentioned here and there but have no idea of how they smell. This one sounds worth seeking out though.

Somehow, I was SO eager to smell coffee, then got a sample, and yet… still haven’t smelled it. Need to dig that one out. I’m less excited about this one, though; oddly enough, despite smoking for 15 yrs and LOVING the smell of pipe tobacco, I haven’t liked any of the tobacco scents I’ve tried at all.

This sounds amazing! Can’t wait to try it. Maybe it will work for me.
Maybe it will be what L’Artisan’s Havana Vanille, unfortunately, wasn’t.

The boyz @ Basenotes are going to be wetting themselves, Pure Malt was one of the most discussed there.
All snark aside, this sounds fantastic.

De-lurking to say… SO… FREAKING… EXCITED!! Back to Black by Kilian is one of my Holy Grails, and I’m wondering if this might be a more masculine take on that, based upon the notes listed? And even though I know that Thierry Mugler is quite a polarizing figure amongst perfumistas, his scents seem to really get along with my skin.

Thank you for making my day, Robin. 🙂

I got an email from Mugler about Havane today. A 3 day sale of it is happening online. It’s $80 with free shipping if anyone is interested. : )

Thierry Mugler got back to me saying it will be exclusive to Nordstrom for a month, so I’m assuming it’s coming in March, and go into wider distribution in April. I am so looking forward to it and thank goodness it’s premiering at Nordies! Somewhere close to me! Haha. : )

It’s at Nordstrom. It’s probably my favorite for men by Thierry Mugler so far. : )
