Star Trek Shirtless Kirk & Sulu ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 20 December 2010 31 Comments

Shirtless Kirk cologne

Genki Wear has launched two more fragrances in its Star Trek series (see Pon Farr, Tiberius & Red Shirt), Shirtless Kirk and Sulu:

Shirtless Kirk (shown) ~ "Set Phasers to Stunning! Sometimes the only thing standing between you and a successful mission is a thin piece of cloth. Whether in battle or love, you know the shirt is simply… optional." With notes of rosemary, mandarin orange wood, rose, elemi, nasturtium, ginger, palmarosa, mosses, pepper, sandalwood and ambrette.

Sulu ~ "SULU for men is the perfect cologne for the man who does everything, whether that's cataloging exotic plants, collecting antique firearms or piloting ancient helicoptors and advanved [sic] starships. It's more than choosing to live your life with style; SULU dives straight to the soul and allows you to release your own Intergalactic Man of Mystery." An aquatic featuring carnation, peony, white lily, nutmeg, saffron, coriander, musk, amber and exotic dark woods.

Star Trek Shirtless Kirk and Sulu are $29.99 each for 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (via genkiwear, with many thanks to Heather for the link!)

ROFL! This is funny but at the same time… how are we supposed to compete with this for the Prix Eau Faux? evidently some people are born with a natural talent for…. these kinds of things. 🙂

It is fabulous…it is like an early Christmas present. I love that they put the tag line right on the bottle for the Shirtless Kirk!

Lol- ‘Shirtless Kirk’ is a fab name! Icky if you envision Shatner, yum if it’s new Kirk, Chris Pine… Just watched the new film the other night so this is fresh in my mind!

It is perfection. (and I never saw the new version – I’ll stick with Shatner)

These are so cool; I love Star Trek—I wonder, has anyone smelled any of the line, and if so, can comment on them?

I smelled the 1st three. Perfumistas are not going to flip over the juice. Some people will no doubt not care about the juice.

Gosh, it all depends on your outlook. I wouldn’t have worn any of them — they can’t compete with anything else in my fragrance collection, and they don’t smell like they cost even as much as they do. But they’re not horrid.

LOL. “not horrid”. That’s a fun new category 😉

They should do a shirtless version of the William Shatner of today. THAT would be interesting.

OMGawd, yes! That would be a HOOT! A sure departure from the regular ‘ripped’ look, yes? And he’s just crazy (like a fox) to do it, too!

        ROFL!

OMG! Loved the “Mandom” commercial I saw. Shirtless is the next best thing. I may try to score some for my DH’s birthday. Sadly, he hates all fragrances (silver lining- we never clash…) but it would be a cute joke gift.

Shirtless Kirk on the box doesn’t remind me of William Shatner, even in the early episodes before he had to hold his breath for a sideways shot! And yet all those glamorous alien women kept falling for his charms. Hmm, perhaps he smelled wonderful? (Hopeless Star Trek fan here.)

All these trek frags are hitting the top of my wishlist, I don’t think even the tiniest amount of perfume snobbery is going to hold me back much longer. trekkie for life here.

A friend of mine wore Red Shirt last NYE to a formal party. He said he chose it specifically to ‘live tonight like it could be the last.’

How perfect for a Monday morning. Lol.

My BIL is a huge Trekkie to the point he has all the various ships that the races? lifeforms? use as light-up Christmas tree ornaments replete with sound, nonetheless, as well as a couple light-up NASA ornaments, one of which is a rocket that “blasts off” with “fire” and an actual count-down. My older son’s fascinated with them. His wife makes him decorate “The Geek Tree” by giving him the smallest tree in the very back of the house. I think it’s finally been relegated to the BIL’s office and I’m waiting for the day The Geek Tree ends up out on the patio. These colognes belong right under it. 🙂

They need to pair Shirtless Kirk with Sultry Green Complected Alien Woman as a Valentine’s Day package.

If my own experience is anything to go by (which it often isn’t), there isn’t a whole lot of overlap between the collective group of people who ever wear perfume and trekkies. What a way to tap an as-yet unexploited potential market!

Of course the major error is in the pricing: make it $300 and ultra-niche and see how many people still buy it. I reckon most people who’d buy a perfume called “Shirtless Kirk” for $30 would probably pay any amount of money for it, lol.

There exists an episode of Star Trek named after a perfume: “Charlie”, in which the title character gives Yeoman Janice Rand a bottle of her unnamed “favorite” perfume. Perhaps the perfume WAS “Charlie”?! To tie all the fragrance references together, Capt. Kirk happen to BE shirtless (in the gym) in this episode, too!
