Beyonce Heat Rush ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 15 October 2010 37 Comments

Beyonce Heat Rush fragrance

Beyoncé will launch Heat Rush, a new perfume for women, in February of next year. Heat Rush is a daytime variation on the "overtly sexy" Beyoncé Heat fragrance which launched earlier this year.

Heat Rush was developed by perfumer Honorine Blanc and features passion fruit sorbet, blood orange, cherry, yellow tiger orchid, mango blossom, hibiscus, teak wood, honey amber and Rio sunset musk.

Beyoncé Heat Rush will be available in 15, 30, 50 and 100 ml ($24-59) and in matching body products. (via wwd)

    Well the bottle is pretty.
There are so many pretty mainstream bottles…wish some of these niche houses would have more creative bottles but we know what matters the most, the lovely juice inside the plain bottle. 🙂

Everyone has their own ideas about bottles…I’d rather pay for the juice, not the bottle 🙂

I love a beautiful bottle too, but this one doesn’t meet my standards for beauty; it looks like it came from a cheap set of oil-and-vinegar cruets. The color gradient– is that the glass or its contents?– makes it look like a tequila sunrise, too, which I admit is more appealing than the salad dressing reference.

What is Rio sunset musk?? It sounds very fruitish and very sweet, but the bottle is nice.

Probably a standard mix of synthetic musk chemicals that they’ve given a more palatable, romantic-sounding name.

I wish they would just say “musk”. Why does musk always have to be verbally tarted up into the most evocative portion of the scent? It always sounds ridiculous…sugar musk, water musk, sunset musk…wth?

Nice bottle but will only sniff this if passing directly by it.

Can I share a whinge, please? I was out shopping and doing errands today, one daughter at school and (amazingly) one daughter asleep in the pushchair, so had a rare opportunity to sniff to my heart’s content and …I have such a miserable cold I can’t smell a thing! AAARGH…….

Right there with you. My husband is in town for the weekend, so I could run around childless for once, but I’m just getting over a cold and can’t smell properly. Ah well.

Thanks for the well wishes, Robin!

Boo, it is so disappointing isn’t it? As a mum, time for just you is precious and it helps you be better at all things mums do! Hope you are sniffing again soon.

looks like a decanter of cognac. it catches the light nicely.

rio sunset musk is nothing. its made up. there is obviously no living creature called a rio sunset that would produce musk.

I thought the Heat bottle looked better in pictures than in person, & guessing this one will too. But it’s not bad.

“looks like a decanter of cognac”–my first thought exactly. I was wondering if you are supposed to spray it on or drink it.

That’s not a bottle I would associate with heat, Rio, “overtly sexy” or Beyonce. I wonder if that had some bottles around that they decided t use.

There’s a great line in The Guide where Mr. Turin imagines that in perfume speak, “very” (as in, Very Irresistable) really means “not at all”. I suspect that “overtly” has a very similar meaning.

Mark Twain suggested that we should substitute “very” for “damned” and the editors would take care of it and we’d have said it just right. 🙂

Heat Rush? Why not just call it Hot Flash? Am I alone in thinking this is a silly name? (I know, I know… they all are…)

I thought the name was silly but that’s not where it was taking me. However, now that you mention it…. xD

Not really Miss Kitty. I was also thinking maybe it’s what you’ll get when you spray it on your person, like say, an allergic reaction.

Silly names indeed. I keep expecting to see a new one from Etat Libre D’Orange along the lines of ‘eau du flatulence’ or ‘bois d’pluff-mud”…lol

I haven’t ADORED anything Honorine Blanc has created so far but I’m not giving up on Beyonce. I’m enjoying the orange bottle a bit more than the red so that’s a good sign. LOL! It sounds as sweet as sin but luckily for me I have no taste whatsoever and love me some fruity sweetness. The only thing I’m really worried about is the cherry. I am not very fond of a cherry not. But we’ll see. : )

Loving you some fruity sweetness doesn’t mean you have no taste! I am dripping with taste (hee hee) but sometimes a bit of fruity sweetness is just the ticket.

Well I had smelled Heat and didn’t think too much of it. Same ol’, same ol’. I always hope that each time a celebrity fragrance comes out, it will be unique. But alas, it is a hopeless cause.

My daughter and I actually got samples of this today when visiting Macy’s to see if they carried the NR Musk Intense in the store. Since they didn’t, my fave sales associate gave both of us samples of Heat Rush to try and I have to confess it is the perfect antidote to the especially frosty weather outside. I like it better than the original Heat since it smells more like fruity wood where as the original was just peachy syrup on my skin, and might consider picking up a small bottle to wear in Feb. when it feels like winter’s here to stay. It isn’t edgy or even all that unusual, but is nice and does evoke warmth somehow, which is better than I’d expected.

It does smell a lot like SJP NYC. Pretty disappointing. I love Beyonce and was hoping I would love this scent more. Also the bottle is really awkward to hold a spray, you can’t really do it with just one hand. Also I wish it was glass. Oh well its probably a good thing I didn’t like it considering how much I’ve spent recently on other perfumes!
