Posted by Robin on 5 October 2010 29 Comments

Fresh Fragrance Bar

Fresh has introduced The Fragrance Bar, a series of discontinued fragrances made available for decanting from urns in Fresh boutiques:

A celebration of artisanship and a nod to nostalgia, The Fragrance Bar offers an easy, interactive way to play with scent while reviving time-honored fragrances. Here once-retired Fresh fragrances are again available to enjoy alone or wear with newly discovered Fresh scents. History meets present day, time-honored meets modern, old love affairs become passionate new romances. Re-discover an old friend or find a new love - all within the Fresh fragrance world.

Fragrances on tap currently include Cucumber Baie, Patchouli Pure, Pear Cassis, Tobacco Caramel and Violet Moss.

The Fresh Fragrance Bar scents are available in 15 ml, $22. (via fresh)

Ohh I’m SO happy they re-released the Cucumber Baie, it was one of my favorites. Any word on the bottles? It’d be nice if they let patrons use their already empty bottles. I love the apothecary look, I save empties to use as bud vases etc…..

You can see the bottles in the picture but they’re tiny…go to the Fresh website and you can see a larger picture. They’re pretty plain.

Good on Fresh for the 15 ml sizes! I would love to try Tobacco Caramel, has anyone tried it? Is it anything like Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille?

Sorry, no! The one I always heard was wonderful was Moroccan Mint Tea, so I was sad not to see it in the lineup.

Fresh had a Moroccan Mint Tea?

Me, I’m just regretting the bottle of Tobacco Caramel I snapped up off eBay…

I hope so, because otherwise I’m confusing them with someone else. Which is PERFECTLY possible.

I think I own the last bottle of Moroccan Mint Tea in existence. Big Love.

Robin, I would be happy to send a sample.

Thank you for verifying … thought I remembered it as being very popular at one time on MakeupAlley. And no, please, keep what you have! You already love it, and in my case, ignorance is no doubt bliss. We can both keep our fingers crossed that they add it to the Fragrance Bar some day. But thanks so much for offering!

Me too – this and China Green Tea were always my favourites. Whilst I’m glad they kept Sugar, it does seem to me they went from very unique scents (Mukki, Baby Mukki, Jus, Grape & Vine, the original Fleurs de Chocolat trio) to rather ho-hum ones.

and I just remembered they did a rose trio? I think – I used to have Spanish Rose, a light peppery rose. Which is reminding me of Paula Dorf’s Zita scent, that wonderful grassy rose.

It’s interesting, but not robust by any means. It’s sort of a light sweet scent with a vague herbal note and more of tobacco leaf note. Like a more sweet and less strong version of The Body Shop’s old Tobacco Flower scent. The caramel is also rather non-descript, oddly enough for a company who knows how to do a proper caramelized note in the original Sugar (quite an authentic caramelized sugar note in there).

I did have a vial of Tobacco Caramel. I even wrote a blog entry for it.

However, it is not my cup of tea. It’s spice and sweets all the way. Couldn’t blame it. The two themes stated in the name are Tobacco and Caramel, both on the sweet side. Flowers are subdued and I did not find substantial trace of citrus in the top. It is a winter fragrance in my opinion.

And I am sad that we don’t have Fresh in Taiwan anymore.

P.S. I really do love to try out Patchouli Pure and Violet Moss if I have any chance. Sound fascinating!

Oh, maybe they’ll eventually bring back Grape & Vine! I loved that one.

Violet Moss and Pear Cassis sound fantastic. I actually have a decant of Tobacco Caramel that I only dabbed but remember it being warm and spicy a la Tonka Imperiale/Spiritueuse Double Vanille and the like. It almost had a bit of a doughy, almondy-ness lurking in the notes to my nose as well. That must have been the tobacco.

Maybe I will try this again tomorrow. To me Tobacco Caramel seemed like a Back to Black Lite… I like it, though. Will look for doughiness!

I bought a bottle of Patchouli Pure when they re-released it for holiday last year and I love it… nice to see it make another return.

Oooh – I have a Fresh store downtown – I’ll have to check these out. I think for a while I git Fresh and Clean mixed up but I like some Fresh scents quite well.

Thrilled that Cucumber Baie is available again – it was one of their first fragrances when it was known as Enact – bought it at Liberty years ago. Will be in London in December so will pick some up then.

Yeeessss, Fresh used to make Fresh Moroccan Tea and it was absolutely gorgeous, just what I adore. Mint and realistic tea note… ummmm. I love mint tea:) Also, Ribin, I am looking, and looking everywhere on the website and I don’t see these scent bar bottles. This is my second time trying to look for them, the fist time I tried to find them was when You just put this post on here. I couldn’t find any info about scent bar on Fresh’s website now and then… Ugh…

They’re only in Fresh boutiques…did you look/ask in a Fresh boutique?

No, Ribin because we don’t have a Fresh boutique. I was just hoping they would at least have a better pic of these bottles on their website. And why would they even do this and have them only in their boutiques? crazy

I assume it’s too expensive (and takes up too much space) to do this in department stores…
