Posted by Robin on 12 September 2010 33 Comments

Jennifer Lopez LA Glow by J Lo

Jennifer Lopez has launched LA Glow by J Lo, a new fragrance for women:

Inspired by a magical moment where your 15 minutes of fame never end. A hip, high energy scene in Los Angeles - this night of fun has just begun!

This sexy feminine scent is a cocktail of sweet, juicy fruits blended with luxurious sensual florals and wrapped in warm, creamy amber that beckons the sensuous glow of dewy skin and hot LA nights.

The notes include cherry charm accord, purple plum, blackberry, jasmine, peony, magnolia, musk, creamy amber and tropical cream.

Jennifer Lopez LA Glow is available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette; the packaging features a wearable cocktail ring around the bottle neck. (via jenniferlopezbeauty, with many thanks to APassionateJourney and Jonr951 for the tip!)

“Inspired by a magical moment where your 15 minutes of fame never end” That’s an interesting marketing strategy. Is it the first perfume marketed strictly to famewhores?

Nope, it’s only the latest! Carolina Herrera 212 VIP was the next most recent, and there are too many others to list 😉

Doesn’t 15 minutes of fame, by definition end at the lapse of fifteen minutes?

It’s a little like a “joke” my math major friends used to tell, 2+2= 5 for very large values of 2.

Maybe it’s for the those that don’t know their fifteen minutes has come and gone, and can’t recognize that they’re washed-up has-beens.

I might actually try this. I’ve liked a lot of her scents and Walgreens usually sells them for a fairly good price. Not so sure about the Shakira fragrance, though! 🙂

Some of them are quite good. I didn’t like My Glow though, and haven’t even seen Blue Glow.

Now Peony Is Whats Popular In Fragrances. Funny How That Works. A While Back It Was Tuberose And Orange Blossom. More Recently Pepper, Which Was Overwhelming In Bang For My Nose. I Love The Scent Of Peonies. Kind Of Milkish To Me.

I don’t know…seems to me peony has been popular for years now, as has magnolia.

I love peony also. I do like pink pepper but I think perfumers have exhausted that note. 😉

I disagree. I really like any sort of pepper note.

A wearable cocktail ring! Haha. Then we’ll be able to show our love for celeb perfumes while out fame-whoring it up in Los Angeles.

I wonder how ‘cherry charm accord’ differs from a plain old cherry accord.

I am still laughing over this eternal “magical moment” – who are they kidding? Those Lindsey Lohan wannabe’s can’t read much less tell time.
Its a moment, then it’s 15 minutes, but it lasts forever.
    Priceless!!!!

I’m still wondering what cherry charm accord is.
I considered getting Miami Glow, but that’s about it.

What number are we on for the Glow range now? 8? 9?
I really like the original and Miami was well done too, but now they’re just becoming very samey.

That being said I’ll look out for it to sniff what ‘cherry charm’ smells like.

I love the original Glow. Smells like clean skin with a little purty thrown in. This doesn’t sound bad, except for “cherry charm accord”, what the hell is that?!

I’m guessing Lucky Charms and bottled maraschino cherries. Something sweet and cloying and synthetic, at any rate.

Snort lol. Probably, for the kid in you, and of course all the teeny boppers that think the La party scene is cool. After all, it has Paris and Lindsy-oops, they are up on cocaine charges now.
They should make, “Frosty Goodness” a note too.

MY favorite part of this whole “thing” is that JLo can’t even be bothered to be in the print ad anymore. Speaks volumes about her concern over the project.

so, um…..are those hookers in the ad? That was my first impression. I like JLo —don’t know much about her fragrances; always hear good things about the original Glow…..but this ad seems a little more “lowest common denominator” than most. For the most part I ignore ad copy and try not to be influenced by it….but holy cow.

I’m laughing, because the ad made me nostalgic for high school. Well, there was many a time that I passed for a hooker, the way I was dressed, so maybe you’re right. 😉 I really do like the print ad, though, in all seriousness. The sparkly-shiny thing appeals to the part of my brain that only responds to sparkly-shiny things. (In other words, the dumb part.)

Really Daisy. Cherry Charms? agh, come on. And they have Micheal Kors Very Hollywood, now this. I blame it on The Hills, 90210, and maybe, Gossip Girl and who knows? They make the rich high life (with an accent on the High) look so glam to teenagers. I’d like a perfume that would make me feel rich too, I guess.
Except in my case I wouldn’t be able to pay rent. I think all shiny, silly, rich party girl frags whould come with a free cocaine sample,…or better and less dangerous, a cocaine note. Snow accord, Frosted Flakes…etc.

Does anyone know where this fragrance is being sold? I know I can buy offline but I’d really like to smell before I buy. If that’s not possible where would you say is the most trustworthy place to buy online?
