It says “Classic”, so is this a re-launch? I don’t seem to remember a Love’s Rainforest before. Totally forgot about Love’s fragrances for the cheap/guilty pleasure post. Talk about memories!

There was a Love’s Rain Scent, which I loved. When I was a kid my friend and I went in on a bottle to “share,” and I never got it back from her. To this day I still want my bottle back. I’m always tempted to buy some on evilbay or the online discounters. I would love it if this smelled the same, but I somehow doubt it.

I remember the Rain Scent, didn’t it come in blue packaging? I practically bathed in the Lemon Scent myself through several summers way back when.

Yes, the bottle was blue. I loved the Lemon Scent, too! I actually just looked both up on fragrancenet. You can get them for really cheap. (Although, amusingly, probably more than what they went for in their heyday.)

I swear my Love’s Lemon cost $3.49 . . . in my local grocery store by the White Rain hairspray across the aisle from the Bonnie Bell lip smackers.

I loved the Rain Scent too. Recently, I bought some from eBay out of nostalgia. I can’t be absolutely sure, not having any of my original bottle left, but–it does not smell the same. It is very harsh and unpleasant to my nose, and I wanted to scrub it off within a few minutes. I did not expect fine perfumery, but I do remember it as actually smelling good–a nice cheap thrill. The bottle says “Love’s Fragrances, Dana Cosmetics”, so it was apparently made after Dana’s acquisition of the brand. It is incomprehensible to me why a formula that was so cheap to begin with would need to be cheapened even more, but it must have been done. If you do buy any from eBay, be forwarned–it may not be as you remember.

They have announced it as a completely new scent, but that’s all I know…

I think “Classic” is part of the house name (using the word “house” very loosely here!).

Well I’ll be! Something so tacky and artificial looking really CAN be eco-conscious … and donate to eco-charity, too! Wonders never cease.

I used to have Love’s Lemon Soft when I was a little girl. I LOVED it to death. i I felt soo coool when I wore it. I actually have a body spray of the Love’s Baby Soft now. I bought a pair of them a few years ago and liked wearing it when I was preggers — not too much scent to agitate the nose, you know? And it makes good room scent, lol. My fav of all those was the Bonnie Bell Skin Musk, which I still have somewhere too.

I also dug the Skin Musk. They had a flanker (would we call it a flanker? I guess we would) called Skin Musk Cooler, or something like that, that I loved. There’s another one I would love to find. I have a few drugstore scents that came and went that I would kill to find again. Another one was Bistro, which I have found on ebay, but only suspect-looking bottles of it.

The Rainforest is definitely not the same as the Rain (at least as nearly as I can recall that one): it is VERY floral to me, and a good bit stronger than the original Baby Soft, Lemon, and even the chocolate-laced Heart Throb (which is not half-bad for the $9.99 price tag, kinda CSP Amour de Cacao-ish)….I have a 10 year old who has to sniff them all, okay? Of all the varieties in our local CVS, this was my least favorite–though my daughter did like it 🙂

The Rain Scent was sort of an aldehydic musk, although I’m sure they’d never call it that, since that doesn’t sound very rain-like. It did somehow still smell like something that would be called Rain Scent.

I kinda like it. It has a citrus-pine-dish-soap thing going on, but I’m a sucker for pine. I’m pretty excited to sniff it in a tween scent.

Oh, I had all of these when I was younger. Musk, Fresh Lemon, Jasmine, Rain and Heaven Scent along with the original Love’s, which I still buy and wear. I’ve been tempted to buy them off the discounter sites, too. I really liked the Jasmine and Rain, and would love to give this a go, too.

I wil have to try this, no matter how tacky. I remember when Love released a “musk” series, and I wore the Warm Woodsy Musk. They also had a Mandarin Orange Musk and a Jasmin Musk. Can’t remember any others. I still have dreams of finding something like the WWM. The one that’s come closest so far is Moss Breches.

Love’s Rainforest is a new scent; I sniffed it about a month ago and recall it being a floral aquatic, but not terribly aquatic. I suspect part of the reason it’s named Rainforest is to capitalize on fond remembrances that others have for Rain Scent.
