Hot on the heels of the guilty pleasures thread, I have to admit that this doesn’t sound bad.

Same here. I’m actually very curious about this one and thinking I might like it.

I am terribly behind on new BBW scents…still want to go try the summer ones, esp. the citrus. This one sounds like it might be too berry for me.

    Voluptuous, seductive, tempting, primal… A-hahahaha!

Ahem. You know I’m fond of certain B&BW scents, but others I find horrendously, chemically nasty. This one sounds like it could either be a really rich kitchen-sink floriental, or a smorgasbord of hot mess.

I’m afraid I have to second the “smorgasbord of hot mess” sentiment.
I know they make it sound intriguing….and it’s all in PURPLE which is very knee-jerk appealing to me (I’ve been in a purple mood for weeks!) but ALL my previous experience with BBW has been truly nauseating….and it’s hard for me to believe that they’ve suddenly abandoned their tried & true formula, it’s been very successful for them. So I might sigh over all that luscious purple and they may wave yummy notes at me, but I know better. 🙁

“Waving yummy notes at you…” I like that!

Speaking of waving yummy notes, I finally got ’round to that Cruel Gardenia samp you sent me, and it’s nice. It’s not very gardenia, but it is capital-p Pretty.

LOL—I know! not very “gardenia” at all! It made me wonder if the name was sort of tongue in cheek…but it is really pretty. 🙂

Always worth trying though — the price is wonderful, esp if you buy the travel sizes when they’re in preview. I think they’re all $1-2.

B&BW better watch out when my most primal passions are unleashed.

But yeah, I need to go sample this.

Got to say, with all this vampire stuff going on, the name is genius. It refers to vampire world in an insider kind of way that I bet the kids will really go for, heh…

I guess that clears things up for me– I found the name perplexing, and finally just decided to give up trying to decipher what they were going for.

Yep, I got that, too. In fact, Anne Rice referred to the “Dark Kiss” in her Vampire Chronicles, in caps as typed, as the metaphor for the a vampire feeding. Wonder if she’ll cry copyright? Nah, if she didn’t sue those guys from Savage Garden, I’m sure she’ll let this roll. Besides, she’s too busy loudly declaiming Christianity…again. 😛

On that note, I wonder how Francoise Sagan felt about the creation of Guerlain’s Chamade? Not that Guerlain seems to acknowldege her novel (and the film starring Catherine Deneuve) as its inspiration, it’s hard to believe that it would have come up with it by itself. It was surely more than a co-incidence.

I read the book a few weeks ago and enjoyed it a lot.

I’m usually not a fan of BB&W scents. I was dissapointed in Twilight Woods. Although, I do like the perfume they put out a few summers ago. It’s Tahiti Tatau – it’s a island, beachy type scent. Nothing spectacular but lots of fun to wear. Anyway, I’m due for a visit anyway and will give this a sniff.

They have those tiny little sample bottles for sale now and while I thought it was well done, there was so much berry in it that I couldn’t be bothered to try it on.

Yes, berries in any BBW scent always scares me as it tends to be overwhelming and smells to me like cough syrup. That incense, amber, labnadnum and balsams might just lure me in for a try the next time I’m (unforunately) at the mall.

I immediately thought vampires when I read thename of this frag a couple weeks ago, so I suppose their marketing was successful. It’s being compared to their Black Raspberry Vanilla, which I liked, so I’d smell it if I were passing by. On another vampire-themed note, the Parfums de Coeur Vampire fragrance is being described as berries, violet and chocolate, which sounds surprisingly complex for the line and I’ll admit that I’d like to try it if I can ever find it. None of my local department/drug stores carries it. But I do love berries/plum as a note so am tempted by all the yummy notes. 🙂

I noticed my local Walgreen’s carried the whole Parfums de Coeur line *except* for Vampire. I’ll bet it will be out for Halloween though, along with the Wet n Wild black nail polish, glitter false eyelashes, and glow-in-the-dark press-on nails!

If you remember Bath and Body Works’ 2008 fragrance Black Amethyst, imagine a dulled-down and vanillaed-up version of that, with more berry. I don’t hate Dark Kiss, but it’s really, REALLY not interesting, and therefore, very disappointing to me.

LOL! I like some of their scents, but only those that do NOT feature berries–Moonlight Path ( a very nice floral aldehyde), Sensual Amber, Fireside, and some of their citrus scents. All the fruity ones I just ignore.

I’m with you: Moonlight Path body products layer rather nicely with No. 5, and I still really like Velvet Tuberose. I LOVE the Aromatherapy Orange Ginger body cream, too.

If they brought back the original Freesia, I’d be happy. (The Sheer Freesia is not at ALL the same…)

I tried the body spray and lotion. I actually liked it, it’s very similar to the black raspberry vanilla but it’s less in-your-face sweet. Unfortunately the spray wreaks havoc on my sinuses but the lotion will be nice for the fall. It will layer nicely with my black phoenix ‘hymn to proserpine’ oil, sort of a pomegranate amber..

I frequent BBW and this new scent is definetly a let-down. It’s actually another concotion of fragrences that are already a part of the signature collection; Black Amythyst and Black Raspberry Vanilla. Deep Aqua was Wild Honeysuckle and Dancing Waters. I wish they would get more creative and create a scent that we haven’t seen before or isn’t currently available by just mixing a few lotions together. What I did like was the Summer Vanillas! In fact, they sold so well that they’re keeping them through the end of the year as “Signature Vanillas”.

I have the triple moisture body wash and the fragrance mist. I’m very surprised at how much I like this. It reminds me of Yves Rocher’s Rose Absolute that I owned as a sample once upon a time, though not as headache-inducing. There is a berry scent, but it is not so “in your face” as Sweet Dreams mentioned. It’s quite comforting, actually.

To date, this is probably my fave out of the B&B line (aside from the home fragrance line), but that does not say much, as I’m not a big B&B fan. I found something in the dry down similar to Angel too, it’s quite sweet. After it fades down (which is quickly), I get a plummy/ambery/musk, and it’s about as dark and complex as I’ve ever smelled a B&B fragrance get. I love their Winter collection for home though, very nice to smell in a room!
