Posted by Robin on 28 July 2010 26 Comments

Loewe 7 de Loewe fragrance

Loewe will launch 7 de Loewe in September. The new fragrance for men is fronted by Spanish bullfighter Cayetano Rivera.

7 de Loewe was reportedly made with seven molecules; the notes feature neroli, muguet, rose, pepper, incense, Atlas cedar, musk, red apple and cedar.

Loewe 7 de Loewe will be available in 50 and 100  ml Eau de Toilette. (via cosmeticnews)

I love their stuff, really. But they haven’t roll out decent stuff for a long time.

I hope this one could actually change my opinion. (No responsible nose reported?)

No, they said there were 4 perfumers (at Givaudan, IIRC) but they did not name them.

Impressive they could find 9 notes using only the same 7 molecules too, eh? I really like the look of the bottle, though.

Maybe they’re load-bearing molecules. The cedar is probably holding up the other cedar(?), and the incense is supporting the pepper.

            uh-huh….they’re sure bearing a “load” of something…

I understand there has been some controversy about that in Spain. He fronts their men’s clothing line too I think.

Cayetano may be looking for another line of work soon. Yay for the ban!

What do you mean by “even catalonia”? It is not exactly the most important bullfighting center in Spain.

Really, we’re dropping this topic now. Thanks!

I think the term “matador” sounds more romantic than bullfighter…maybe they should use that term? It means the same thing. My high school mascot was a “matador” but it was always a young lady swirling a red cape as the band marched onto the field.

Actually, matador means something like “butcher” since matar translates “to slaughter”. No so romantic: bullfighter at least reminds one that it is not necessarily the torero who does the killing, it may and sometimes does go the other way round. Anyway, don’t you find it weird that the persona of a matador is thought to be a good selling device in the same world that applauds the ban on corrida?

Well, not everyone applauds it — but don’t want to debate bullfighting here!

Oops – I apologize for the opinion I expressed above Robin – I had a knee jerk reaction and commented without thinking. [Typical me.]

Oh, no worries. As always, just trying to avoid trouble. There were some VERY angry threads on some Spanish sites when they first announced he would front their clothing line — this is one of those topics that understandably gets both sides quite heated.

No, of course. Let’s rather debate the way perfume, like other things, as music, seems to be the refuge of our forbidden identities, and of our forbidden dream encounters .That would be fun, going through perfume names with doctor Freud’s little dirty mind.

In the not too distant future we will be able to watch virtual bullfights where a three dimensional computerized projection of a bull fights a real bullfighter. Data pertaining to the bull’s height, weight, speed, stamina, etc., would be entered into the computer and real bullfighter would fight the virtual bull. Of course, the fragrance endorsed by the bullfighter would have entirely synthetic (non-organic) components.

I thought the bottle was from La Prairie! It looks so similar.

So I tried this scent today. All I can say is that 7 de Loewe is a Kyoto (CdG) ripped-off.

Not at all impressed. I wanna boo them.

Oh dear…sorry if it’s derivative, but of course I love Kyoto so that makes me want to try it more! But I never see anything by Loewe so it probably won’t happen.

I agree that it is similar to CDG Kyoto. However, I like Siete more. I adore the interplay of incense and read apple. A fresh incense, if ever there’s one.
