Posted by Robin on 25 June 2010 20 Comments

Playboy New York cologne for men

Playboy will launch Playboy New York, a new fragrance for men inspired by the 'trendy metropolis that never sleeps'.

The notes for the woody fragrance include aldehydes, lime, vinyl accord, green apple, elemi, black pepper, vetiver, tonka bean and vanilla.

Playboy New York will be available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching body products; the bottle was designed by graffiti artist Seen. (via cosmoty.de)

Ack. I would have thought a Playboy fragrance would smell like hawaiin tropic suntain oil on the rocks.

There’s a vinyl accord in YSL Parisienne!

Maybe, who knows? If they’d left out the apple, it would sound good to me.

I was thinking the same thing. At the very least, aldehydes, lime and vinyl accord sound good to me.

My reaction was more to the concept than the notes. I didn’t realize they had a whole line. Where have I been?!

Although adding: I have never ever seen one anywhere. I think they’re at mass market stores? But never run across them.

It’s the perfect fragrance for men who want to spend quality time with their grand-daughter’s friends.

That’s too perfect. There was one time I was watching Girls Next Door (I know– don’t judge me), and I found myself thinking, “He’s not so bad… He seems to really take care of his daughters.” Yeah. Oops.

Funny to me! I won’t judge you… I watched that for about ten minutes once.

I saw the Heff-man himself at the Long Beach Grand Prix several years ago. He looked like any old geezer with some very young females accompanying him. I wanted to walk up to the girls and ask them if they’d thought about college yet, but they were on the other side of the racetrack, while I was in the stands. Years ago when Heff married a much younger woman and then had a child with her, Jay Leno said, “Heff is the only guy who could rob the cradle and then start filling it.” The Playboy name has some cache in Asia (Hong Kong, Thailand, etc.) so that is probably the market for this fragrance.

i have Hollywood and it actually smells surprisingly expensive… definitely not like the typical run of the mill masculine fragrance, it’s a bit dusty, smokey, sweet and spicey. reminds me a bit of Bulgari Black…

i’d like to try New York once it hits stores, Aldehydes sound intriguing!

Totally! When’s the last time a new release contained aldehydes?

Well, more exact to say when’s the last time a fragrance *listed* aldehydes in the notes….lots of fragrances have aldehydes but don’t list them, probably because for most people it is not a selling point.
