Early in my perfume obsession, I wore Cashmere Mist quite a lot, and loved it. I keep returning to it now, sniffing, trying to recall what I liked about such a nondescript scent….I’m sure I’ll sniff this flanker, just for old times sake, but I don’t expect to love it (although I normally do love musks and woods). Sad when love fades, isn’t it?

I also liked and used Cashmere Mist a lot, I still even try it when I find it, but I cannot find the reason anymore why I liked it.

But will add, for anyone who *does* like Cashmere Mist (which admittedly does not include me) I thought last year’s “Luxe” edition was really well done — a better scent than the original.

I will have to sniff this as well as I have a soft spot for Cashmere Mist. I think it is a lovely, no- brainer scent rather like throwing on your most faded and soft jeans – very comfortable, warm and reassuring. Been a long day so maybe I should spray some once in my jammies!

That’s exactly why I love Cashmere Mist. It’s actually less complicated than the laundry soap I use, and just smells pretty and clean without a heavy dose of alcohol or falseness about it. It’s simple and pretty, and I really loved the Luxe edition from last year and mean to pick it up.

This sounds absolutely perfect for the upcoming fall, and I’d be very tempted to buy unsniffed just because I love musks and woods so much.

Is anyone else put off by the bottle? It is somewhat close to the original but a bit more . . . suggestive. I understand that Ms. Karan likes more sculptural elements but this is both boring and phallic – if that is possible.

I was thinking that it reminded me of a lava lamp.

yup, lava lamp is the first thing that popped into my head….not that I actually have lava lamps….and if I did, I certainly wouldn’t arrange them in rainbow order….or would I ???

I also thought lava lamp. For once my mind was not in the gutter. One for the record books.

Funny–I thought of a lava lamp too. I also thought that it looks as if it were melting.

The bottle looks like a bowling pin and the desription reminds me of Estee Lauder Sensuous (molten woods). I’ll probably try it regardless…creamy woods always have potential and I still have not found my Holy Grail musk fragrance.

I tried the original Cashmere Mist but the lily of the valley part of it did not agree with my chemistry at all. I find that I have to be very careful about anything with lilly of the valley in it, sometimes it’s gorgeous, sometimes it has a something is “rotting” smell to it on me.

And the bottle is trying too hard to be “modern” and fresh but looks old and/or “been there, done that” and for us not so clean minded, yes phallic too 😉

Hey – did anyone test that new one DK released a bit ago. Pure or whatever it was called???? I’ve not really heard any comments about this anywhere.

I sprayed it and smelled pretty much nothing. It was very light – like vanilla water. It made me think of dish suds that you are washing up cupcake pans and frosting bowls in. Not offensive just meh.

The words “cashmere mist” together nearly send me into a panic now ever since I developed a bad reaction to it (throat closes up, non-stop hacking, etc.). After reading an article on MSN yesterday (can’t find it now, dammit!) about more and more restrictions of perfume in the workplace, I was amazed at all the whining comments that were posted about people’s “suffering” from fragrances. I would rather let a person wear Cashmere Mist at my workplace and deal with it myself with an inhaler and Nasonex than ban fragrance – and fragranced products!! – altogether. I am that passionate about fragrance! lol

A person after my own heart. Don’t even get me started on this one! I have been absurdly joyful this week because my fragrance-intolerant coworker has been gone, and I can wear whatever I want. I almost feel like I’m doing something illicit and dirty. And sneaky. I feel sneaky.

So really– there has got to come a point where people can’t control everything, and should stop trying. I’m far more offended by horrible fashion sense than I would ever be by smells. Can we also have a ban on bad taste in public places? Or stupidity– how about a ban on stupidity? I can think of all sorts of things. Leave my precious perfume alone!!

Miss Kitty, this is why feeling so wrong feels so right! lol And you’re right, if they can ban perfume in an office, then I should be able to complain about pleated pants and dickies being an affront to my better sense of taste. And stuipidity…hmmm, I wonder how much that would affect unemployment. 😛

Hear, hear! I too am alarmed at all the whining and the pressure to ban perfumes because someone claims to be “allergic” to it. What is really irritating is that some people are comparing perfume to smoking–as if thousands of people each year were dying of cancer, emphysema, etc., caused by perfume. And besides–people who smoke carry the “fragrance” of the smoke around with them. I don’t care if they smoke outside or whatever–when they come back in, they reek of smoke. If smokers can go about in public smelling of smoke, I should be able to smell of perfume.

It really is ridiculous and getting to the point where I feel my freedom of expression and my pursuit of happiness is being infringed upon. Not to mention it’s creating a society of victims. I mean, seriously, does our society want *everything* to be unscented? The popularity of BBW in the mall tells me “nay”.
An aside: I was going to therapists off and on for years until I met this one, a woman who is retired now…but one day she said to me during a particularly blubbery session “you’ve got to stop being a victim”. And just like that, I stopped crying and a huge, Vegas-worthy neon light sparked above my head. Since then, I’ve never felt the need to see another therapist again. 😀

Whatever happened to the idea of dealing with things like civilized, adult human beings? Oh, right–it’s in the history museum right next to the dinosaur fossils. If I knew that a particular perfume caused a coworker serious respiratory distress, I would stop wearing that particular perfume to work. If someone’s fragrance is causing another employee discomfort, why can’t they work it out like intelligent adults instead of filing lawsuits? And if they can’t work it out, couldn’t the employer just move one of the employees to a different office or cubicle? Oh wait–there I go again using logic and common sense–I must stop that!

The bottle just reminds me of a truncated Brancusi sculpture:

My mother adores Cashmere Mist. Shes worn it for as long as I could remember. Its been her signature since its release. I was 4 and absolutely hated it. I just thought it was too strong for my little nose. LOL! Now Ive gotten to really enjoy and appreciate it. It was the 1st scent my dad ever got for her so its really special. Im so upset at myself that I didnt pay attention to the Luxe edition. I hope I could find it still since u say its even better than the original! Im excited about this one and am really looking forward to testing this. I have to find the Luxe one. I just have to. : )

Cashmere Mist isn’t my favorite but I’m sure I’ll take a whiff of this if I see it in the store. If I had a FB of this, I’m sure I’d knock over that tall bottle at least every two days. It looks interesting though.

This part of the ad copy made me laugh, “reinterpreted to provoke the sense of second skin…” =O Like Leatherface?

Perfume ads are so fun. 🙂

it’s pretty, but almost too soft for myself, and probably most people. I hadn’t really wanted a sample of it, I was hoping for whatever else, but the sales people always end up giving me things that I’m not even looking at! That’s the thing about Sephora…you can try anything they have, though there isn’t much. Well, I just have to try stuff on in the store, I guess. You really don’t have many options most of the time…

My first post at this great site…

My mom also loves Cashmere Mist, so when I saw this during my recent sniff-o-rama, I sprayed some on a card to take to her. To me it smells nearly identical to Cahsmere Mist, but there is something a bit sharper to it, almost metallic and maybe even a little…screechy. I’m not saying it’s a bad scent, but there really is nothing new to it, in my opinion.
