Serge Lutens will launch two more new fragrances this year, Boxeuses and Bas de Soie.
Boxeuses (shown above left) joins the exclusive range, and is a woody leather fragrance with gourmand accents including plum and licorice.
Bas de Soie ("silk stockings", shown above right) joins the export range. It is a floral based on hyacinth, with powdery accents and iris.
Serge Lutens Boxeuses will be available in 75 ml (110€) and will launch in September.
Bas de Soie will be available in 50 ml (79€) and will launch in June.

Boxeuses sounds a bit scary to me – plum AND licorice AND leather! – but the Bas de Soie might be SL’s answer to En Passant? The iris in that sounds nice.
I love hyacinth, and the only wonderful hyacinth I have is L’Artisan’s now discontinued Jacinthe des Bois. I am VERY excited!
Doh! En Passant has only got lilac, I now realise, but Bluebell and Patou Vacances have both. Mind you they are both quite green, so I probably have never smelled anything quite like the new SL…

He knows what I like too, except he doesn’t know he knows as I’m still exploring the back catalogue. I have a friend with an August birthday who adores anise and wears it very well. Perhaps a slightly belated birthday present…?

I too tried to give it a chance, and it didnt work out. I’m not even sure what I was smelling but I just know that I didnt like it. I’m wearing Tubereuse Criminalle right now, and that is the type of fragrance that enriches ones life. Aahh…so nice

I’ll have to give the hyacinth one a sniff. My poor mother is not allowed to wear fragrance because my father hates it (he even snipes at her shampoo and handsoap!)… but he loves hyacinths. Maybe?
I’m fairly certain DSH’s Dutch Blue Hyacinth (Essense Oil) comes in bath/body products as well as the perfume oil. You might want to check out a sample for her…
Mals – You’ve got me curious about this one. It’s the 2nd time I’ve seen you mention it. I’ll definitely have it on my samples list the next time I order from DSH.
If I’d gotten my hands on some Jacinthe de Bois I don’t know that I’d keep recommending the DSH… sigh. You can’t test EVERYthing.
OH dang!! I knew there was a sample of something I was meaning to get the next time I ordered from her—and yet when ordering goodies that Blue Hyacinth flew right out of my head! grrrrrr

Boxeuse would be such a fitting name for me: I love it!
(and also bas de soie, for what matters!)
But the liquorice is the bit that scares me: many export SL scents conjure a liquorice note once on my skin, and I seldom manage to pull it off (I don’t like liquorice/anise notes)!
Daim blond, Douce amere, santal blanc, filles en aguilles and I am forgetting some… on my husband it is even worse. Daim blond becomes a huge haribo roll on him! Too bad. Well, whatever. I have a long list of non export SL lemmings. TC is on top!
I too want a bottle with that name on in my cabinet! To wear when I want to feel in a fighting mood! And I too am scared of licorice…

And Robin, total agreement about Jacinthe des Bois – I only have a sample of it and I am crying that it is no longer around! (L’Artisan disc too many of their wonderful perfumes – I’m also lamenting the loss of Orchidee Blanche!)

Add me to the list of the curious… I tend to be a die-hard Serge acolyte. I think Cuir Mauresque is great, so it’ll be nice if that gets more fans by being added to the export range.
And you know, Serge seems downright reasonably priced in the middle of the market these days.
Heh — not to me. Parfums de Nicolai is about as pricey as I’m willing to go. Serge would seem somewhat moderate if you were buying 100 ml instead of 50, maybe …

I’m scare of hyacinth – Penhaligon’s Bluebell is the perfume I would most like to wipe off the face of the earth – so Bas de Soie might not be for me, although my favourite SLs are the floral ones.
I love the name (I will enjoy recording it).
As for Boxeuses (LOL!), licorice is a problem note for me…
But they both sound unusual and very interesting.

Bluebell only smells like hyacinth for three minutes, on me, and then it is a chemical spill. I wouldn’t judge all hyacinth fragrances by it.
I worked for Penhaligon’s for several months many years ago: I used to fill bottles, etc. That was the one fragrance I always asked someone else to deal with. I felt really sick when I *had* to do it.
i made a huge mistake adding up all my spendings on the perfumed court so far. very close to our GDP. so decided to stop for a relatively big while and enjoy what i already have. but i have to try Bas de Soie…
Serge and I are not having a very hopeful flirtation, but Bas de Soie sounds quite lovely. I love hyacinth, and have been sad that AT’s Hyacinths and a Mechanic experiment will never make its way to me (and has reportedly been lost, to boot). I know this will be nothing like that, but will still be nice to try.
It’s good to have a friend over in this lonely corner…

Dammit dammit dammit I am going to Paris in less than three weeks and might even have a chance to go to the Serge Lutens boutique and they’re not launching Boxeuses until September? Why? How can they do this to me?
Well, I’ll just have to order a decanted sample, then. It sounds very much like the kind of thing I would love. (Although Lutens scents are about fifty fifty for me, and it’s almost always love or hate, nothing in between. Still, this DOES sound awfully nice.)
Let’s put the one that everybody and their brother is going to be craving in the exclusive range. On some level, I’m really getting tired of that schtick.

Yep, putting something out of most people’s reach is how these brands operate. That’s how they maintain their prestige. How many times have we grumbled about the absurdly large bottles that Chanel have put out in their exclusive range? I’m sick of it too. It’s driving me somewhat in the direction of exploring obscure and vintage miniatures. Interesting fragrances that few other people will be wearing, at a fraction of the cost.
However, I’m not too worried about wearing popular fragrances. I wear my White Linen and Youth Dew happy in the knowledge that they have brought pleasure to thousands (millions?) of women who couldn’t otherwise afford fine fragrance.
Boxeuses sounds intriguing. Of course, it’s the non-export one.

I think they both sound much more interesting then the late coupple of releases from SL. Looking forward to try both of them.

It’s funny no-one’s mentioned the new label design. Could this be Serge telling us that this is the beginning of a new epoch (especially after Sheldrake’s departure)?
Maybe L’Eau Serge Lutens (never smelt it and am certainly not in any hurry to) was an artistic statement in more ways than one – the temporary cleansing of the palette (with the anticipation of soon savouring something very different but within the realms of what went on before), an insertion between two chapters, a signpost for the end of one era and the advent of another…
Oh, Boxeuses sounds amazing! Let’s hope this is a return to form.
