Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Songbird ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 3 May 2010 13 Comments

DSH Songbird fragrance

Dawn Spencer Hurwitz has launched Songbird, a new addition to the Essence Oils collection:

...a simply enchanting and delicate new scent. Inspired by vibrant, small song birds and their cheerful nature, Dawn has created a beautiful, airy fragrance that is innocent and youthful, yet modern and complex.

The notes feature red and green mandarin, peach, violet, sweet pea, gardenia, muguet, jasmine, musk, heliotrope and vetiver.

Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Songbird is available in Eau de Parfum, Perfume Oil and matching body products ($15-65). (via press release)

I still have never tried any of her stuff. Need to remedy that. This sounds lovely, and the name is very sweet.

DSH was my foray into the world of niche perfume. I bought a lot of her samples, but nothing really begged for fb. Songbird sounds too pretty to me. I’m actually wearing her Oriental Musk, quite nice. But-on the other hand:) I’m wearing POTL Luctor Et Emergo, very very nice.

Just ordered samples from DSH about ten days ago, and Dawn included a sample of Songbird. I haven’t tried it yet, but when I do, I’ll come back and post my impressions.

The name makes me think of my daughter.

Oh good, do! It’s a great name for a perfume.

It really is a great name. The name draws me way more than the notes do – but I love some of her scents. If I didn’t get so overwhelmed by the sheer volume, I’d sample more of them.

Sounds like just my style! I love DSH perfumes, they really agree with my skin chemistry for the most part.

I really enjoyed the fairly new release Cyan, but this might be a touch sweet, I sense.

I seriously doubt that any indie perfumers anywhere test their products on animals.
