Well, Guerlain has made me its, um, faithful servant despite the fact that I don’t like many of the new, super-expensive yet totally average fragrances. I do like the “cologne” trend that I seem to be seeing more of now because I love to spray myself with cologne or EdT after the shower and then apply my regular scent later. I don’t always use the same EdT and perfume, but I do try to coordinate them in some way. Colognes and splashes are so nice in the heat – nothing cools you down like alcohol evaporating off your skin.

Throw it against the wall, see if it sticks?

Of course I’ll want to try it, and the price is nice.

    But I’m fairly sure I won’t need 1000mL.

J, I couldn’t imagine anyone needing the 1000ml unless they were going to swim in it, which admittedly was the first thing I thought when I read this. I do so love a citrus cologne for the summer.

Also, did you manage to give the Melograno layered w/ Avignon a try? I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.

I did layer them the other day, in fact! It was nice, but I found that the Melograno kept eating the Avignon… layering can be such a chore in terms of finding the correct proportion. It’s a good combination. I’m actually growing to like Melograno more and more.

J, I layer the Melograno sparingly because it can be so overpowering. The first time I layered the two I could barely smell the Avignon because of it. I’m glad you gave it a try and thrilled that Melograno is growing on you. It can be a tricky, weird fragrance at times.

The big bottle would sure rock an old-fashioned bathroom counter, though!

Nope, a number of fragrances come in outrageously large 1 liter sizes. I think Flowerbomb has one. They are called ‘Fragrance Fountains’

There has been a full 2 litre (or was it 2,5? can’t remember) bottle of Oscar de la Renta Volupté on and off Swedish E-bay lately. I haven’t been watching the auction but I kind of wish I had, it would be fun to know what someone would pay for that. Have never smelled the scent either, maybe it’s a winner? If I had to own 1 or 2 litres of a scent, it would definitely have to be an edc though, light enough to swim in, like Klytaemnestra!

    Remember people, 1000ml @ $520 = $0.52 per ml… might make a nice split!

It is practically begging for a split! I totally missed the 1000 ml. size. I thought it was a typo or something. Isn’t that factice size? I’m looking at my Marc Jacobs splash bottle which is 300ml and I’m having a hard time imagining it.

That would be cool! Is it bad that I’m already imagining what a great flower vase that 1000ml size would make??? I feel a split coming on!
      (when DON’T I feel a split coming on? )

In fact I’ve been eyeballing that new Bond no 9 En Rose at Sak’s …..

        What a Great Vase!!!
Daisy, are we the only ones who do that with an empty bee bottle?
(I have a single rose in an empty Prada Narciso flacon in front of me)

How do you get the spray nozzle etc out of the bottle so you can use it as a bud vase?

grab the collar with pliers and rock it side to side until it loosens and usually you can get them off with out incident. For the tough ones, I hand them over to the “muscle” in the family—but I should warn you that the CEO has had two bottles break at the neck while trying to remove the crimped on collar. Then I file them down with a metal file.
Then you are required to have flowers enough to put in all of them. 🙂

If my bee bottles were empty they would be full of the little roses in bloom all over my back yard right now. I’m totally in for a split. Also, if you guys are interested in Bond No. 9 En Rose let me know. It is “friends and family” at Saks and they have it in stock at the store closest to me. I’m julia 941 on mua and @ yahoo

Feel a split “coming ON”? I thought “feeling a split” had become your standard way of being…. baseline status, as it were. 😉

I know they do several scents in 500 ml:

    http://www.sephora.fr/browse/brand_hierarchy.jhtml?categoryId=C7601&toutVoir=true&brandId=GUERL

1 liter is rather large, and I hope it isn’t a mistake on the part of the PR person….they had only listed 3 sizes in the press release, but since it clearly shows 4 sizes I emailed to ask.

I hope Sephora gets this – it would be so easy to sample then. I know I keep saying it, but I’m citrus obsessed this Spring.

I’m also citrus-obsessed this spring – even more so than usual. I don’t really “need” another cologne, but I think I “need” to try this one.

I feel like being snarky about the exclamation points and the word “fave” in an ad release from Guerlain. So not what I’d expect from them.

Or is it actually BG’s wording? That seems a little more likely. Okay, I take back the snark. I can ignore Bergdorf Goodman’s adwriters sounding all “OMG!”

I only want the bottle, you guys can have the cologne… I’m just not a cologne gal. Honestly, I’d rather have a light cool floral, and I know that’s probably out of the norm, but I Wear My Freakdom Like a Banner. 🙂

Yeah, it’s easy to be green if you’re not the one schlepping the recyclables down to the town center.

(I DO schlep the recyclables, BTW.)

Sounds relentlessly pleasant – I would give it a spin, and some day I would like to own a bee bottle of some kind. A small bee, that would be, not some of the queen-sized offerings here.

Thierry Wasser’s card is marked as far as I am concerned ever since I learnt that he is the nose behind Armani Diamonds, but I see no reference to raspberries here.
