Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles 2010, part 7

Posted by Robin on 1 April 2010 27 Comments

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US.

Only the Brave Iron Man 2

From Diesel, a collector edition of Only The Brave launching in conjunction with the Iron Man 2 movie. In 75 ml Eau de Toilette, it will be available in April for $67.50. (via latimesblogs.latimes)

From Givenchy, Pi Neo in the Pi Neo Ultimate Equation edition. In 100 ml Eau de Toilette, 72€. (via aufeminin)

Paul Smith Sunshine Edition 2010

From Paul Smith, the 2010 versions of Paul Smith Sunshine Edition (you can see the 2008 originals here). The women's (£30) is shown above; the men's (£25) is identical but with green instead of pink. Both can be found in 100 ml at Escentual in the UK.

Estee Lauder Youth Dew solid cameo

From Estee Lauder, the Youth-Dew Opulent Cameo: "Like an heirloom treasure, this compact is delicate work of art. A winter blossom lies against an ambery background, evoking the floral spiciness of the fragrance within. On the clasp a topaz-colored crystal glitters." $89 at Estee Lauder online.

It’s a shame that the bottle for Only the Brave is so ugly, the box is a thing of joy….

It is truly the most hideous bottle I have ever seen.

The Diesel bottle skeered me a little.

That’s what I was going to say! I’m afraid of it!

That fist frightened me, too. Something visceral about it that just makes your mind go to getting punched in the face. Hard, and with brass knuckles, too. I don’t date, but I don’t think I would be comfortable with that guy.

Can you imagine having that thing on your dresser? Or seeing that in some guy’s bathroom? Yikes!

At least it would be a clue: Giant fist atomizer on dresser means run for your life.

My husband just saw it and asked if I was “looking at a new perfume called Wife Beater.”

You know, I was going to say something along those lines, and was afraid it might offend someone.

I just got a mailer from Macy’s in the mail (I guess that would be where one get’s mailers–sorry for the redundancy) and the regular bottle for this is the same, but in blue. (Or it was something else they do that’s also in a fist bottle? That would be unfortunate.)

Yes, that’s the standard bottle, just in a new, rather alarming color.

Yeah, I realized that a bit too late. Gotta work on that filter…

Agree, all the awesomeness is in the box. Shame. I don’t hate the bottle, it just isn’t all that thrilling.

It’s much cheaper than many of their solids, too.

I know a lot of people consider EL as “old fashioned” sometimes. But I think they are really on top of things. Mother’s Day will be here right around the corner and this compact is a perfect Mother’s Day gift. (Hint-hint to my daughter – LOL! ) EL hasn’t stayed in business so long for not knowing their market share, that’s for certain!

Thank you for saying that–they are old fashioned, but that’s what I like about them. I get tired of people making the “smells like old lady” comments. (Not on here, I meant people I unfortunately associate with.) Never mind that there’s nothing wrong with smelling like an old lady. I suppose if you smell like that a specific kind of old lady, like, say, Crazy Old Cat Lady, then it might be problematic.

Old fashioned or not – I like a whole bunch of EL’s fragrances.

Because ‘Only the Brave’ is the only one that shows up until I expand the article, I assumed this was your April Fool! for a moment 🙂

well ..Diesel’s only the brave one, for me >>not that hideous, the fact that its an iron man edition what can you expect from the color, design if they are forced to match the upcoming movie.. i think it make sense at all.. though it reminds me of boxing gloves more than robert downey.. hmmmm….guess i can tolerate them a little more….

Love the EL compact. I recently purchased Youth Dew and I love it. When I want to feel extremely feminine it is my go to fragrance. I use it carefully because it can be quite potent.

A solid might be nice then…usually has less sillage.
