Wow, that is certainly a long name.

I remember that line (or a variation on it) from a Book of Love song from the 80’s. Not sure if it originated from elsewhere, but it was sort of a pretty song. 🙂

This sounds really good to me. Another line I have never tried. Need to get on it.

        Nursery rhyme from England,
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oranges_and_Lemons.
        I loved “Book Of Love”!
I have tried several of Heeley’s fragrances, and they have all been outstanding…

Darn it – just shipped a First in Fragrance sample order and missed this one. Sounds like a return to form for the line – the most recent Ophelia was the only Heeley I thought was awful, as I generally think the Heeleys are awesome and very well-crafted, a fave line of mine. This sounds simple, but good.

I like Heeley too (though have only tried a few), and having just sampled Ophelia, wholeheartedly agree. This one sounds nice (and I loved that nursery rhyme as a kid), and will definitely hit my sample list.

Wow, Boojum got here before I got a chance to login! [waves to B] Was going to “ditto” myself regarding the Ophelia. I don’t know if I thought it was awful…but I do recall steering a very nice young woman at Barnaby’s Old York toward En Passant. She had been holding the Ophelia. Didn’t dawn on me until afterward that perhaps I had just miffed the SA’s (who I like very much) because the 50ml Malle was less expensive than the Heeley.

Maybe I *should* have convinced her to love the Sel Marin. And taught her how to do a bottle split. And send me a share in thanks. 😉

You know what i tested recently that i thought smelled a lot like Sel marin. Paco Rabanne Pour Homme Eau. I think it lasts much longer and is a lot cheaper.

Hi! I got my sample of Sel Marin at the wrong time of year… need to give that a more thorough testing. Really like the Iris de Nuit, though, and think it might be my very favorite iris.

Mmmm. Another tea scent this morning. This does sound good.

Though if the nursery rhyme trend catches on, I think that would be prime CDG territory given some of the wonderful abstracness of the rhymes. I’d love to smell what they’d make of The Itsy Bitsy Spider, what with water spouts, arachnids and rain.

Sounds nice… although now I’m thinking of the verse’s use in “1984” and feeling unaccountably paranoid!! 😉

I like the name! I vote for a whole line of nursery rhyme-inspired scents. To wit:
Remember, remember (the fifth of November)
    Ring around the rosie
Tuesday’s child (is full of grace)
All the King’s horses and all the King’s men
The Lion and the Unicorn (were fighting for the crown)

“There was an old woman who lives on a shoe.” (Smells like leather and old lady: baked goods and something powdery and lilac-ish.) 😉

Did I mention I didn’t get any sleep? Seriously. None.

“Old Mother Hubbard looked in her cupboard to get her poor dog a bone,” might be interesting, but Mitsouko already has a name.

Sounds like it could be interesting. Always love a citrusy “cologne-type” scent… though there are SO many. Only Heeley I’ve tried is Cardinal, which was nice & surprisingly similar to CdG Artek Standard.

I’d never heard of the nursery rhyme, but immediately I thought there must be a connection to the XTC album “Oranges & Lemons” (listening right now on Lala since I was reminded). In the link Eric posted above, there’s a whole slew of cultural references. Things you don’t know if you don’t grow up British!

Cardinal is nice…so far have found all of their scents well-done, but haven’t really fallen in love with the line.

It’s funny: there are several that I would probably really wear a lot if I had them, but I’ve never been able to decide on one of them.

Not sure I’d feel completely comfortable asking for this in a store (smiles), but spring fever always brings me a craving for citrus-y scents, so I’d be willing to try!

Take me! I’ll get it for you. Of course you erm… might want to wait around the corner. 😉 I might sing it at the SA (it was on my Disney It’s a Small World record when I was a kid). 😀

        Mine too.

I can also sing “The Bear Necessities” from my Jungle Book Record, and pretty much *anything* from my Wizard of Oz record… Gosh, I wonder where those went…

A signature scent for London’s east end?
I must say it looks quite appealing to me.

And where can I get a sniff in London? Certainly it will be quite weird if ‘the signature scent of East end’ can’t be obtained in London!

I don’t know…the line is based in Paris, not London. I’d be surprised if someone in London didn’t carry it, I just don’t know who.

A traditional cologne, but one which is very well done. The freshness is superb and reminds of fresh laundry. Also (subjectively) has an almost green quality recalling country walks – grabbing the tall cow parsley as a kid and making pea shooters out of the hollow stems. My favourite cologne before was Roger and Gallet’s Cologne with the green squared-off cap, rare and almost impossible to find now even on ebay, which R&G created as a ‘tribute to the orange tree’ This one caps it, showing again that Heeley is a true friend of quality perfumery. Other related colognes might be Mugler’s (which is less fresh) and l’heure Brilliante from Cartier which is ridiculously expensive and less well balanced. Heeley’s Oranges and Lemons has a wonderful crisp argumen quality and a great drydown, I wouldn’t be surprised if Symrise had something to do with it as it reminds me of various Haarmann and Reimer compositions and bases. Bottom line – I’m going to buy it.
