Lolita Lempicka has launched Lolita Lempicka Eau du Désir, a new fragrance for women:
A new story is joining Lolita's collection of fairy tales for women: "Eau du Désir", the new Limited Edition to satisfy women's craving for an Eau with sensual freshness.
A sunny, contemporary and refreshing Eau featuring citrus and floral notes.
The notes feature citron, verbena, violet, jasmine sambac and musk.

Somehow that modified bottle lacks all the charm of the original.
Especially since the original was sort of apple shaped, and this is… a pear? One of those weird mutant apples that you avoid at the grocery store?

I wonder if it’s missing the dreaded oily licorice smell? I don’t know what, but I’m compelled to try all of the Lempickas – even though the only one that I’ve like so far is Fleur d’Corail. Speaking of which – anyone want to swap for a brand new, sprayed once bottle of Forbidden Flower? lol – another Marshall’s purchase gone wrong. I swear, I could buy an Amouage Tribute if I would have avoided all of my bargain mistakes.
I have fallen prey to a few bargain mistakes myself (SJP Covet Pure Bloom — what was I thinking? It smelled like grape Kool-Aid to me.)
I always see Donna Karan Gold at the local TJ Maxx and am tempted by some good reviews, but I’m afraid of making a $30 mistake. It’s not big bucks, but it could go towards something truly great. I’ve never tried any of the Lolita Lempickas, probably for the same reason.
Especially when you can pick up DK Gold for even less on evilBay- but I haven’t taken the plunge yet either. 🙂

Ah, so many Marshall’s purchases. I have the same bottle of Forbidden Flower available free to a good home myself. My only unsniffed winner is Sous le Vent – and that was a pricey gamble. Actually, I also bought Une Rose Chypre unsniffed and I adore it.

Oh go for Gold, I say, $30 is practically zero! But do test first, as a big, blowsy lily is not for everyone. Personally, I love it, and get many compliments on it.

I was contemplating this very same thing last night. I’ve made numerous bargain boo boos that when combined, could have bought some awesome frags (Like Amouage Homage) Sunny, I believe you’re speaking of SI Lolita, and it’s been here in Canada for awhile now so I’m more than sure the U.S. has also been graced with its presence lol.
The dreaded licorice is my favorite part 🙂
But haven’t even tried Si Lolita yet.
lol – I know – it’s the best part for most people. But it just goes so wrong on me – I love it on paper, but on my skin it’s terrible.
It is the only anise fragrance I have and I like it, I just don’t reach for it much. My local perfume friend loves it and anise anything smells great on her (and anything gourmand – seriously, Pink Sugar smells great on her and I never can identify it). Jo Malone’s Vanilla Anise was right up her alley.
Yeah, forget about this strange little thing (is it a flanker to the original? I am confused); what about Si Lolita??? I’m dying to try that one. Beautiful pink bottle, you will be mine…
I like the original Lolita, L and Si Lolita. Si Lolita has a little masculine touch and is not so sweet as L and the original.
Every Lolita Lempicka fragrance I’ve tried smells like vanilla and not much else.

I suppose I should clarify – I’ve tried three of them: L, Fleur de Corail and Forbidden Flower [and that one doesn’t list vanilla as a note, so I’m probably just goofy]. I didn’t dislike any of them, but my mom LOVES them, so I have given her the samples and bought her a bottle of L.
Oh, do try the original, I do think it’s their best. The men’s is nice too, and not so sweet as the women’s.
I will do that @ my next Sephora trip!
I was actually digging the way that bottle looked, but it’s better with the water behind it than some other pictures on the LL site.

Covet Pure Bloom sounds right up my alley. I’ll have to hunt the discounters.
I love the original LL and the Midnight version, but haven’t tried anything else from the brand. There seems to be a new LE line coming out that was inspired by the Les Caprices de Lolita set (just larger sizes of the three ‘aspects’ of the original) and I’d love to try these if they ever make it to the States. The Caprices set never did and I couldn’t even find it on Evilbay. And the bottle design for the original LL is definitely one of my favorites. It’s sooo cute.
I’m the one freak of nature who actually loves Covet Pure Bloom. I don’t get grape kool aid at all, but rather a powdery floral musk that actually dries down to almost a really good masculine. AS, I’d be happy to send you a sample so you can see if you’d like it. Send me a message at MUA.

There isn’t a very noticeable difference between the original LL and the Midnight version. I think the staying power’s a little better and the concentration smells more of perfume than alcohol when first applied. But if you have a lot of the original LL, I don’t think the Midnight is different enough to warrant owning both.
I haven’t been to TJ Max or Marshall’s in a while. The last time I went they had lots of Versace and drug store frags with not much else, but that was quite a while ago and I wouldn’t turn down some original Covet if it’s pretty inexpensive as well as Covet Pure Bloom. I also tried and liked LAMB, so will be on the lookout for that one, too, since I can’t see paying department store prices for something that smells so like VS’s Pear Glace. 🙂
Oh – the original Covet is super-cheap at TJMaxx and Marshalls. I got a 3.4 oz gift set for $19.99 last year. I’ve seen stand-alone bottles for $14.99.

I was at Marshall’s yesterday and they had plenty of Covet (original) and a big stack of Lanvin Rumeur EdT for $14.99.
I wonder if the Midnight editions differ among each other. I’ve just tried the Midnight Stardust. For quite a while it seems practically identical to the original LL. I like the original, but the drydown seemed fairly harsh. One site mentioned tobacco in the base, I smelled something vaguely like cigar smoke. But I will revisit.
Midnight Stardust is smoother in the drydown. I’d call it a richer version of Forbidden Flower.
IMO Midnight is less sweet in the drydown and more open, more bitter apple than sweet, if that makes sense. I find them different enough to recommend Midnight — great bottle too.
Also, LL Midnight reminds in part of La Petit Robe Noir sans the rose.
I like your description there. I also get a nice smooth bitterness from the Midnight version.
I would definitely check out TjMaxx if you are looking for either Covet. I was there today and bought a 50ml bottle of the original Covet (new favorite winter perfume) for $13. They had a 100ml of Covet Pure Bloom for $20. If they had had a smaller bottle, I would have bought it just to try. I’m very sad that both of these seem to be discontinued : /

I really don’t like this bottle I find it so distracting I which they would of used some more imagination I think this will be a floop.I just can’t see it being popular that bottle its just wrong.LOL

Robin – I know how you like solid perfumes. Have you seen the LE solid of the original LL? It is in a golden apple with a little frog on it and it comes with a refill. So cute! That is what my anise loving friend got for Christmas after a hard won battle on ebay plus shipping from Hong Kong. I also like the one that has a fairy stand with a little swirly cage that the bottle sits in.
That sounds adorable! I haven’t seen it, but have seen that cage.
I’ve been in the perfume selling business for 15 years and have learned that ultimately it’s the juice that sells the fragrance, not the bottle. However, there are collectors who buy for just the bottle and couldn’t care less about the juice. They might even pour it out! I collect the Lolita bottles and like the fragrances very much. I can’t stand vanilla but love the licorice so they must be well-blended for me to be able to wear them. The Midnight version is very good and just a more intense form of the original. I like Fleur de Corail and Forbidden Flower too. The Si Lolita is a good spicy fragrance but the bottle is so horrible it won’t be joining my others. The scarf and the box are cute but especially the back of the bottle is unattractive and cumbersome. I’ll have to try the new L’Eau which I think I will like for the juice more than the bottle.
The Midnight ones are nice…I would like to have one.
Does anyone know if LL Amarena Whim is available in the states?
