New York in pink

Posted by Robin on 26 February 2010 23 Comments

Behind the scenes at the photo shoot for Sarah Jessica Parker's SJP NYC. No sound, which makes it rather dull unless you really like looking at pictures of a) shoes, b) dresses and c) Sarah Jessica Parker.

David Bowie’s song ‘Fashion’ is supposed to accompany the ad though and that would certainly make it more fun. I think SJP looks fantastic. The fragrance was a real let down for me.

I saw that, but every version of this online is mute so I assume they decided in the end not to pay for it.

It’s certainly very…pink. And so much twirling!

There is a big market out there for pink and twirly I guess, so this stuff should do pretty well. All those plumped out skirts and spangly shoes are going to call to the little girl inside many a perfume buyer.

I don’t think that could have been more boring. And I love SJP….

      Music would have helped.

C’mon, SJP. I’ve got my Bonne Belle Skin Musk, I’ve got my CdG Avignon, and all I need now is for you to tell me where in New York I can find that groovy head-shop oil so I can make myself a batch of your signature scent – you know, the one that SHOULD have been in that NYC bottle!!

Hee, hee – me, too! I gave it a whirl with some Egyptian Goddess perfume oil.

LOL Try Downtown Brooklyn I believe it was Eyptian Musk she used. The same one Caroline Besset Kennedy wore and gave to Narcisco that inspired Narcisco fragrance.

Yeah, I thought it was just Egyptian Musk? Get some from Body Time — Coty will NEVER do it, and if the commercial is any indication, it wouldn’t fit “Carrie” anyway.

The hats! Oh, the hats… the hats, I’d take all of them. And the pink dress.

But the packaging for NYC is just horrendous, and I hear it’s undistinguished “mall-rat juice.”

I was really surprised by the packaging too.

Even with music, I don’t think I’d like it…it does not speak to me. I think they should have had SJP posing more, and utilizing different facial expressions, it’s all smiley and twirly and boring. Doesn’t seem very New York to me (spoken by someone who’s never been there…)

No, you don’t see much on that on the street in NYC 😉

I just smelled three of the Sex In the City fragrances yesterday at Gordman’s. They were beyond disappointing and those bottles have to be some of the ugliest I’ve seen in years. Makes Cabaret look like a Rodin.

Those are different than the SJP NYC though (you probably already knew that, but just in case)

Yes, sorry. I’ve lately developed a habit of non-sequiturs. Though, really they seem to be using SJP’s “Carrie” chracter from SITC to promote this one.

That’s ok! I actually have no idea what company did those SATC perfumes, although I’ve seen them.
