Alexa Lixfeld ~ new fragrance trio

Posted by Robin on 9 January 2010 15 Comments

Alexa Lixfeld fragrances

Artist Alexa Lixfeld has launched three fragrances with bottles featuring hand-finished concrete tops:

Alexa Lixfeld 001 ~ "This elegant and comforting fragrance evokes pure poise as subtleties of musk and white tea dance together without entirely revealing themselves..." With notes of lily of the valley, jasmine, light herbs, white tea and musk.

Alexa Lixfeld 002 ~ "Imagine a sandalwood fan gently stirring the air in a cedar paneled room and you will begin to appreciate the effect the 002 will have, with a couple wrinkles, obviously..." The notes feature sandalwood, cedar wood, patchouli, vetiver, fir, tonka bean, vanilla, benzoin, jasmine and carrot seed oil.

Alexa Lixfeld 003 ~ "What a curious delight. The 003 is remarkable in how simple the olfactory listing appears. Nothing exotic in the bricks, but what a house they have built..." Includes notes of bergamot, rosemary, patchouli, pepper, vanilla and cinnamon.

Alexa Lixfeld 001, 002 & 003 are available now at Luckyscent, 30 ml Eau de Parfum for $115. (via luckyscent)

The Lixfedl 002 does sound interesting and I like all the notes listed. I have a feeling that it’ll be a woody spicy and smoky fragrance.

I also enjoyed the 003 notes, but i’m afraid that It’ll be more bergamot and rosemary thant pepper, vannilla and cinnamon.

What I din’t like was the price. If they charge 115 dollars I think I’d like it was 50ml.

They all sound interesting, but do wish they’d listed the perfumers so I’d know whether or not I’m dying to try them 🙂

How much are those concrete tops going to cost to post? Luckyscent will have to charge extra!

Oy, didn’t think about that! Though I’d bet they’re thin, and therefore not too heavy. All sound at least worth a sniff to me!

I was also wondering how heavy the bottles are. Next we will have perfume with granite counter tops.

I don’t think they’re necessarily heavy….Issey Miyake did a concrete bottle last year, and pretty sure there’s another but can’t remember who did it.

hmmm it’s a toss-up between 002 and 003 for which sounds the best. It seems to me that lately perfume lines are seeking artificial prestige and exclusivity by setting incomprehensible prices ….I’m not impressed by that kind of marketing technique. And the concrete tops—I think they’re just ugly.

In this case, I think the tops are the whole point…she’s an artist/designer, and has done other work in concrete.

These sound really interesting and I’m kind of on the fence with the concrete, but… um, Nasomatto much? Even the concentration, though these are a bit cheaper. Just, the bottles look so alike.

Didn’t connect them, but they are similar.

002 and 003 sound nice, especially 002. I’m not too fussed about packaging, with the exception of the star bottle Angel comes in. Off topic, my SOTD is nothing! Which is very unusual for me. But during the night and in the morning it rained for the first time in about a month and a half, and it being midsummer here there was a glorious revitalized aroma coming from the earth. I thought, I can’t compete with that! Me and my perfumes can’t compete with mother Nature!
