Posted by Robin on 18 May 2009 48 Comments

Cartier Les Heures de Parfum

This fall, Cartier will follow Chanel (Les Exclusifs), Giorgio Armani (Armani Privé) and Hermès (the Hermessences) into high-end niche perfume territory. Les Heures de Parfum, the new collection, will be…

…“a really ‘haute’ collection of exclusive fragrances for connoisseurs,” says Daninos [Cartier’s marketing development director Sabrina], explaining each one will have — along with its name — a number, like hours in the day. Number 12, for instance, is also called L’Heure Mystérieuse (or “the mysterious hour”)…

Floris Madonna of the Almonds perfumeTova Signature Platinum Perfume

Floris has launched Madonna of the Almonds (shown above left), a limited edition perfume for women. The scent is being introduced in conjunction with the novel of the same name by author Marina Fiorato — “an unforgettable story of love and art set against the backdrop of the Italian wars”.

She does not have great access to fragrance stores, but she’s willing to order samples online. She’d like to keep the cost to $100 or less.

Here is what we know about Amara:

She’s in her early 20s, and “just getting her feet wet as a professional”. She works in the insurance industry, in a fairly conservative office.

She lives in a rural area on the east coast of the United States.

Amara describes her style as “mostly business casual”, but possibly a “little indie” — she likes to be different…

The Perfume Garden at the 2009 Chelsea Flower Show

Posted by Robin on 18 May 2009 4 Comments

The ‘Perfume Garden’ by Laurie Chetwood and Patrick Collins is inspired by a perfume created 400 years ago for Elizabeth I. It began with a visit to Grasse to recreate the queen’s perfume with the help of French perfume house Jean Patou, and each plant in the garden has a role to play in the creation of scent. The final design will include an area where visitors can try the contemporary version of Elizabeth I’s perfume for themselves.
