Kristiansand New York ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 5 December 2009 20 Comments

Kristiansand New York cologne

Kristiansand New York is a new fragrance from Britt Hovde Ross and Elisabeth Steen, two Norwegians who met in New York City and set out to make a men’s fragrance "because there were few on the market they really loved and they wanted to make the sexiest fragrance possible".

In the creation of Kristiansand New York, elements were added to represent the elegant New York side. These include chic musks, expensive amber and sophisticated powdery notes. These collide with a wild side that embodies the natural impact of Norway. Masculine woods are spiced up with raw pepper and topped by crisp green notes and clary sage. Kristiansand New York is classy meets wild. Nature meets style. The result is a sexy woody-ambery definition of masculinity.

Additional notes include mandarin, spices, lavender and smoky woods. The new fragrance was developed by perfumer Pierre-Constantin Gueros, who notes that...

Kristiansand New York embodies the modern, cosmopolitan and fashion-forward New York lifestyle while paying tribute to the founders’ native Norway, a rather quiet place with a lifestyle much closer to nature. Both places are equally fascinating.

Kristiansand New York is available in 50 ml Eau de Cologne (although the concentration is 15%) for $65. It can be purchased at the Kristiansand New York website. (via press release)

At the moment, they’ve got more distribution in Norway than here…not sure where you’ll find a sample but perhaps if you email them from the website?

Supposedly this is fairly similar to D&G’s discontinued By Man.

The sexiest fragrance ever for men is a tall order — if it even comes close, it will be lovely!

This, as most things Nordic, piques my interest, but I find it impossible from the notes to know if it sounds nice. Could be generic men’s scent, but hope not given their concept.

The notes don’t sound terribly exciting, but who knows…

If this fragrance is anything like Geir by Geir Ness it is totally a winner, and I love it on my husband. Geir Ness is from Norway, so I am hopeful.

It doesn’t sound much like Geir, but who knows.

I’ll report back…they just emailed me and said they’d send a sample. My husband wears Geir as well, so it will be easy to compare. Agree they don’t sound much alike, though. Hopefully this one is less “fresh”; I really liked it on him dabbed from a vial, but sprayed, the fresh takes over.

    The fragrance is beautiful!!!
And my husband is very fussy about his fragrances and this one was a homerun :o)

Lucky for me, I live in Kristiansand (Norway) and we can buy it in selective stores here.. hope you get the fragrance to a shop near you soon. It is well worth waiting for!

It was nice enough — didn’t knock my socks off, but nice.
