You know, I have a very good accountant. His name is Steve Beancounter, and he has a loyal following. I can’t wait for his new fragrance to come out “Calculating, by Steve Beancounter”. And I hear my mailman is soon to launch his new fragrance ” Male du Mail”. And the one I am most eager to experience is my cleaning lady’s debut entitled simple “Eau du Toilette”. How wonderful that we live in a moment in history when we all can capitalize on our own imagined legendary status. Here’s to Derek Jeter! And who said luxury was dying?…….

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am anxiously awaiting the Male du Mail.

Who the hell IS Derek Jeter anyway?? I always assume it’s a sports figure if I don’t know, since that’s the one thing I couldn’t care less about.

Blasphemy! Derek Jeter is the shortstop for the NY Yankees and is NYC’s perennial most-eligible-bachelor!

Not being a Yankees fan, I loathed Jeter for years until The Sporting News ruined it for me by doing an in-depth article about his involvement with children’s charities. He even has his own foundation dedicated to helping kids. As much as I hate to say anything nice about a Yankee, he really is a good guy. Not that it would make me buy his frag because it wouldn’t.

Dear Cynthia, I don’t know Derek, but I take it from you he is very admired as a sportsman, and a handsome man judging from the pic featured here…
But I hate to break this to you “NYC’s perennial most-eligible-bachelor” does not sound good at all! specially at 35+y.o. 😉

I will check the fragrances at my local avon store.
15u$s for 100ml sounds good to me, and I am a sucker for citrus sports fragrances.. so I am hopeful 😀

lol – oh, I know that’s not a compliment. My comments were very much tongue-in-cheek (except that he really does do quite a bit of charity work).

I’ve heard the name before, but had no clue. One of those things that goes in and out of my brain in the same moment. I assumed from the name “Driven” that he was a racecar driver or something. Ha.

I like twinpeaker’s sense of branding though. I also wonder how much teasing he’s gotten from his colleagues along the lines of “how’s that Avon deal working out, Mr. Zesty Citrus?” Hey, anything that brings some kind of fragrance to the masses is okay with me, even if it’s just a step above Axe.

Yes, these might well beat the competition at the $15 price level! Can’t argue with that.

Yeah, not all Avon’s are bad. Of course, not all Avon’s are *good* either, but that’s true of any brand.

Robin, it seems to me that image says Warm Sandalwood under the bottle, not cedarwood.

Right, but if you look closely at the bottle itself, it says Cedarwood on it (the product is definitely Cedarwood). Avon Marketing needs a copyeditor…

Sharp eyes, thanks! Just checked the Avon site, and the Cedarwood seems to be correct and the sandalwood an error.

He does resemble Mr. Potato Head.

      Please don’t kill me.

LOL! It *is* a pretty terrible picture of him. He usually looks much more attractive. Still, as shortstops go, I’ll take Omar Vizquel instead. 😉 Don’t watch bb anymore, but back when my older dd was a baby (born in April) and there was nothing else on, I used to watch quite a bit.

We’re loyal (rabid, even) Yankees fans and the entire family sprawls out in the TV room when the games come on.

Derek Jeter is truly an outstanding role model and a very good athlete. When he paired up with Avon to brand a watch line, you can bet they were added in our kids’ holiday stockings. I drew the line at buying his first fragrance, but if one of the kids happen to smell it in their journeys, it’ll make a good stocking stuffer next holiday. Our kids feel they have a special connection with him because when we take all of them to NYC, we stay at Trump Towers, where Derek Jeter lives. 😀

And those of us who avoid all sports don’t know who he is, sorry to say!

Well, if Donald Trump can have his colone, looking the way he does, Derek Jeter –looking the way HE does– certainly can.
I am a sucker for all things cedar, so at $15 for 100ml, Warm Cedarwood might be worth trying. Worse case, this one will end up being used as yet another bathroom spray. (besides, mom being an avid Avon customer will be thrilled that I would want to buy something from Avon)

Don’t think DT’s sold though! But you’re right: at $15 why not 🙂

He’s somewhat popular around Michigan because he grew up in Kalamazoo.
