Ferragamo F for Fascinating Night ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 30 July 2009 16 Comments

ferragamo-f-night

Salvatore Ferragamo will launch F for Fascinating Night in September. The new fragrance for women is a flanker to 2006's F by Ferragamo, and follows last year's F for Fascinating.

F for Fascinating Night is a floral woody chypre developed by perfumer Olivier Polge, and is intended as a sophisticated evening fragrance. The notes include mandarin sorbet, pink pepper, jasmine, rose,  patchouli, amber and white musk.

Ferragamo F for Fascinating Night will be available in 30, 50 and 90 ml Eau de Parfum. (via moodiereport, veraclasse.it)

Seems like chypres are in style, although it sounds more fruity floral than chypre-ish, no surprise there.

Olivier Polge is Jacques Polge’s son, isn’t he?

Yes, He’s done Dior Homme, Kenzo Power and D&G The One for men. I think he was part of a team for Armani Code. Love his work (mostly).

Yeah, but mandarin sorbet with patchouli? Ack.

patch is kind of a heavy scent…so maybe it’ll settle out at the bottom… so we’d be alright as long as we didn’t lick out the bowl?

it looks like shes tossing the bottle over her shoulder, like discarded garbage.

It totally does! She’s not holding it, and it’s not resting on her shoulder…

what is it with the names lately? I’m glad they told me the F stands for Fascinating Night …lest I think of some other F words on my own, lol.

Rose, jasmine, amber, white musk, and patch sound pretty appealing to me… Don’t know about the mandarin sorbet, though.

My guess is that mandarin sorbet will smell pretty much like mandarin.

I wonder if this will be reminiscent of Chanel’s “Chance”? The notes don’t carry the same attempts-at-most-outlandish-or-exotic-combinations that many brands have leaned toward lately, which means “F Night” might be more interesting than it would initially seem. Ferragamo hasn’t ever stood out for me, though…

Unrelated aside, Robin: I’m having fun with some of the “Demeter” scents. A while back, I’d mentioned that I usually only smelled “lettuce” from many of them, but after giving them a second chance in warmer weather, there’s more to some of them than what first meets the nose…

      Oh good!

This sounds like it’s positioned as an evening scent rather than something light like Chance, but who knows.

Sorry, I think “them” was used as every fourth word in that comment ;)…
