Might not be for everyone

Posted by Robin on 22 June 2009 15 Comments

Unlike huge companies who rule the fragrance world, we get to see our perfumes go from raw materials to finished product. We can also take chances making some challenging scents that might not be for everyone.

— D.S. of D.S. & Durga, from On the Job: Snooping Around Perfumers D.S. & Durga's Live-In Laboratory at Refinery 29. Many thanks to the kind person who sent me the link, and I'd thank you by name if I hadn't lost your email. Do comment and take credit!

Seriously- I want to move in with them/work with them/be their friend so they make me my own perfume. I will be watching closely for those Anthropologie special scents. Very great to see an up close perspective on living the art of perfumery.

Very interesting couple and article. I will also try those scents at Anthropologie when they are available.

Great article; nice to see the back story and I hope they’re doing well. Sounds like a sweet deal with Anthropologie — I would imagine they can’t handle that scale of production in their apartment though. Interesting.

I lurrrve their Orris Root and I’ll probably order Coriander at some point. They do really great packaging too.

Joe, would imagine they’ve got to have a plan B — I don’t see how they can produce that much in their house either.

I wonder if they’d let me adopt them? Anthropologie sure seems to be a perfect fit.
