Juliette Has A Gun has launched Midnight Oud, the line's fourth fragrance (out of a projected five). The new scent is a "European vision of oud" and "evokes the mysterious and intriguing woman who hides behind her veil" — although according to Romano Ricci, the brand's founder, it is a unisex fragrance.
The notes feature bergamot, oud, amber, musk, saffron, Moroccan rose, geranium and patchouli.
Juliette Has A Gun Midnight Oud is available at Colette in Paris or elle est belle in Spain, and is 98€ for 100 ml Eau de Parfum. (first quote via thenational.ae, second quote via elleestbelle.es, additional information via colette.fr)

Oud is the big thing over the past couple years, seems like…we certainly aren’t lacking in European visions of it, at any rate. Still, this one sounds nice !
This one does sound really nice…..definitely worth a try….going to order my bottle right now. I know some people get scared off easily by anything that says Aoud or Oud, for the beginners, try the Montale White Aoud or Red Aoud. Those are 2 of my favorites and were my first Oud experience. I eased into it and now love it, sure seems to give a fragrance more depth.

Holy smokes, ordered it from Colette Paris 2 days ago on the 17th and it arrived today via DHL, now thats what i call freaky fast service. Now to the fragrance I LOVE IT, this is a gorgeous Oud fragrance, not heavy and deep and dark, but has a resemblance to the Montale Red and White Aoud. Smells very similar. So if you like those, this will be a winner with you.

i must be sour today. i remember being totally unimpressed by Montale’s Red Oud and White Oud. and i LOVE oud! oh well…….
Oh that’s too bad, because those are my 2 favorites from Montale, every time i wear the Red Aoud, people will compliment on it wanting to know what the gorgeous fragrance is i am wearing, even though i must say, that when i first applied it, i found it strange and repulsive, but totally adored the dry down. I guess everybody truly has their own taste.
Oh, gimme gimme gimme! I want! I haven’t been totally smitted with the other Juliet’s, but this one sounds delish. I even think the bottle is beautiful, and I thought the others looked cheap. Maybe it’s the gold? I don’t know, but I know I have to try this one!
The bottle does look nice in gold! I liked the white one too though.

I’m not smitted with oud but I do like JHaG fragrances…Citizen Queen is one of my top ten Desert Island perfumes….so trying this is a must. The Citizen Queen bottle looks just like this one only silver–it’s really pretty but since youcan’t see your juice you have to shake and guess how much you have left!
The silver bottle is pretty, too–I just looked at it on the Lucky Scent website. I had only recalled the black and white plastic-looking bottles. They reminded me of Axe body spray for men. The silver and gold bottles are gorgeous, though. For me, maybe it’s better not knowing how much I’ve used. I always look at my collection and think, Wow, barely used, and I keep buying more! What is wrong with me?!
Miss Kitty V – the black and white bottles are actually fancy-schmance and not plasticky-cheap at all…they’re heavy ceramic with an indented design on the bottoms.
Gosh, what’s with all the ouds? I don’t believe I’ve ever smelled an oud scent. Definitely want to.
I love oud…but couldn’t say why it’s so hot right now. It just is!
Maybe the creator of the fragrance should try “hiding” behind a veil. I love oud, but these antiquated and bigoted orientalist references have become truly offensive.
Most fragrance ad copy is either antiquated, bigoted, misogynistic or silly…I just don’t pay attention any more. This particular scent is being marketed heavily in the Middle East & would guess that’s why that language was chosen — Ricci said something similar in the article I linked to above, which is from a newspaper in the UAE reporting on the launch there.
Good point–hiding behind a veil isn’t mysterious and intriguing, it’s usually called oppression. Eek. Missed that part of the ad copy. 🙁

This will be worth a sniff! My jury is still out on Ouds although I do like conservative dabbings of the LeLabo. I only have one of the Montales and thought it way too soapy (I think it was Roses Aouds? I took it off my list because I am giving it away).
Try Aoud Roses Petals…but maybe you’d hate that one too.

I guess for me, Montale will remain the ‘sine qua non’ when it comes to oud, and while I love a couple of theirs, oud is certainly not a note I need 5+ variations of. Therefore, I think I’m pretty content to bypass all of these new ones, though I might be interested in the new CSPs only because they’ll probably be reasonably priced. I didn’t really care for the Le Labo.
I feel the same way — I could have 100 vetivers but don’t feel the need to own that many oud scents.
I recently tried the CSPs and they are quite nice – I ordered the Nomaoud, it had a wonderful drydown, woody and spicy and a bit sweet. And only $110 for 100ml! They are similar in feel to the Montales, but less medicinal and I think easier to wear.
I’ve been surprised to find that I like the JHAGs – I didn’t think much of the name or the TV ad, and I’m not wild about rose scents. However, there’s something rather fetching about these. I’ve been half tempted by Miss Charming, which I find a cute rose (and I am NOT usually a lover of cute roses), and seriously tempted by Citizen Queen. I’m dying to try this new one.
Happily for me, have not been tempted by a single one so far, although the 1st two were enjoyable.
So now both Jeannie *and* Juliette have a gun? Love-love the flacon.

Just tried this the other day. Fabulous stay power and delicious dry down. I’ve put an order in for the next shipment. I couldn’t stop sniffing my wrist. I was told it was a limited edition – I hope it wasn’t hype (didn’t have to put a deposit down though).
