Nah, been used in enough fragrances now that I’m used to it.

It ain’t just you, Dagmar. And how come it’s “sensual skin”? Do they attach the nerve endings? Harvested from porn stars?

You guys really cracked me up with the “skin accord”. I guess I’m with Robin in that I’ve seen it frequently, but it also seems like I’ve usually seen it phrased in a better way, like “soft skin musk” or something not so clinical as “skin accord”.

On the other hand, Donna Karan has a nice way with perfume. But the notes seem weighted to icky-sweet to me.

I liked the Donna Karan line, but so far not any from the DKNY range.

I can’t even think about “skin accords” –ok, maybe I can think about them a little….the unspoken word “unwashed” often floats thru my mind when I hear “skin accord” so it’s a bit unappealing to me…..but I can’t think about that because I’m so busy LEMMING after some Creed Virgin Island Water !!!! I so need a Lazy Tuesday Open Thread so people can give me opinions on this or talk me out of it or something!

Daisy, go for the Virgin Island Water! I think it’s fabulous. I’ve been known to spray even on cold, rainy days for that summer lift, it’s even more satisfying in warm weather. Pop on the favorite summer dress, slip on the pretty sandals, spray away and enjoy the day!

It looks like you and I are out numbered in out VIW love.

It is always funny to see how the same perfume can be perceived differently!
          😉
You make me want to give it another try !!
(but I fear today I like white musks even less than I used to!)

How’s this: “Creed is ridiculously expensive for what it is, and there are way too many fakes out there to trust any bargain you might find (as I recently discovered firsthand).”

      Did that work?

I remember your comments about the fake Creed….and I looked at ebay….yeah, there’s a couple “bargains” but I worry about that too.
So I’ve been looking at reputable discounters. (finger hovering above the put it in the cart button!) I really want something summery and tropical —especially since with my family, pets, fish and plants all depending on me year- round I’ll never get a tiny peek at a tropical paradise other than on the discovery channel.

Oh Daisy, I bought it FB when it was released (a couple of years ago, I think) and it is one big perfume regret (almost never wore it, don’t like it and wonder why I bought it ).
It dries down to a very generic, clean white musk. Like the body shop white musk. And there is a lot of coconut in the opening. It is not worth the money, really.

Zazie you make a good argument. Except I love coconut and I love white musk……I think what worries me about the coconut is like when everyone raved about EL Bronze Goddess and the coconut therein….all I got was slightly sour melons….bummer.

ah-ha! now we’re really getting somewhere—the Creed VIW very similar to Bronze Goddess???

            12 May 2009 at 1:51 pm

Oh, I have no idea…haven’t sniffed the Creed at all. Just when you said summery, tropical, vacation…the BG came to mind as another fun one. Sorry to confuse!

No, no, PdN Just un Reve! (I know, you’re all sick of my PdN rhapsodies by now… but it’s so gorgeous. Not to mention a bunch cheaper than the Creed, which is a major factor for me and my budget.)

mals, if you stopped rhapsodizing about PdNs we’d think it was an imposter poster (say that 3 times fast!) —I just checked my notes and apparently I ignored the note taking while testing the PdNs because only a couple have comments! The only thing I can remember about it was that it didn’t dry down right on me….hmmm….I think I still have that sample…I’ll go see, give it a second test.

Daisy, I have worked through an entire bottle (the large one) of VIW in two years, which is quick considering the sheer volume of perfume I own. There is something fun and wonderful about it! Go for it. You won’t regret it. I will definitely be restocking soon.

BTW does anyone know a reputable discounter for VIW? I bought mine as an impulse purchase at Neimans and while I don’t regret it I’d rather buy more wisely next time. Thanks..

Beauty Encounter has Creed at a discount, but even at that it’s too rich for my blood (there are plenty of scents I like better for the price). I tried buying some off the bay recently and it was as fake as fake could be. Fortunately the seller refunded my $, but I was out the return shipping and won’t risk that again.

Yep that’s me. I think you will really like VIW, if not maybe we could work something out because I am restocking soon anyway.

BTW, I just adore the Bois de Paradis you sent me, I think it’s an HG for me!

Maybe you could get a sample on MUA or buy a sample online? I’d thought I’d expire if I didn’t get a FB L’Ete en Douce but a sample scratched that itch and it was on to the next obsession.
I’ve been pretty lucky on eBay but I’ve only hit it three times for scent purchases.

I had no trouble w/other scents on ebay either, just the Creed… but from comments here and elsewhere, it sounds like Creed fakes abound.

The For Men sounds like it could actually be a nice scent for women. As a New Yorker, I don’t really see what either of them has to do with the city, though.

No…nor, for that matter, what water lily has to do with excitement and energy. Had I not been at the office, I would have laughed out loud. Citrus, woods, spices, pepper of any color, sure…but water lily?

R: with that water lily, VIOLET LEAF and driftwood I predict this is a predictable marine mess! The DKNY stuff just does not appeal or ever smell GOOD to me.

Iris is really becoming an “in” note for male perfumery – so many recent releases have had some sort of iris component.

All I see when I skim through that copy is: “blah blah citrus blah water lily blah blah violet leaf blah blah blah soft woods.”

Not that I don’t like plenty of fragrances with many if not all of those components, but lordy, this train of perfumery gets so dang boring!
