Celebrity pastry chef François Payard has launched Inspirations by Payard, a trio of chocolate based perfumes developed by perfumer Calice Becker:
Bergamot Truffle ~ "A citrus with a twist, this seemingly fresh creation hides within its heart a deliciously dark secret, a rich, non-sweet, elegantly bitter note of the finest and the darkest chocolate." With notes of dark chocolate, Calabrian bergamot, orange flower and Tahitian vanilla.
Lychee Mousse ~ "Mouthwatering and complex, the smell of lychees is a perfume in itself, an intense, creamy, fruity aroma with a hint of roses. Payard brings the delicious smell to life in its new creation which blends lychee with velvety white chocolate and ripe, juicy raspberries." Additional notes include Turkish rosewater.
Pistachio Ganache ~ "We adore the slightly toasted, almost a little smoky feel of pistachios in Pistachio Ganache, and the way milk chocolate makes the blend sinfully rich, while lavender honey adds to it an unexpected and sublimely elegant bitter aspect." Additional notes include Egyptian jasmine.

Interesting to see how these play out. Becker’s done some real blockbusters. I’d like to try that Bergamot truffle one but maybe it’s just thinking about that chocolate that gets me going…

The Los Angeles store called me back at long last. They now have Tome 1 Purete in stock—75ml / $100 c.$7 ship.
So, long story short: it’s pretty much the same whether you purchase from the UK (78.00euros) or from LA….. I assume shipping within the US would be loads quicker.

It was inevitable, I guess–if scents become more and more foody, then foodies will be making the scents. One of the reasons I don’t really like foody scents is that they make me very hungry, and that’s not how to go through your day. I really, really want a chocolate truffle right now.

I was just telling Daisy that now that I’ve started to like coffee notes, chocolate is one of the last hurdles for me to jump in terms of perfume. However, the thought of chocolate perfume just doesn’t sound great. They do a good job of making these sound tempting, especially the pistachio & bergamot ones. For now, though, I’ll pass.
As much as I’d for sure knock old ladies down to get to good dark chocolate for chomping…..chocolate as perfume leaves me completely cold.
EXACTLY! Make mine Ghirardelli dark, please, or Green & Black, or Lindor truffles. Oh, heck, I’ll take Dove or Hershey, too… Just leave it out of my perfume.

Hmm, these sound a bit too much like dessert for me. I like a chocolate note in a fragrance if it’s *very* subtle (I’m thinking of Eau de Charlotte or Covet).
I really like the chocolate in both of those.

I think Pistachio Ganache sounds particularly nice but wouldn’t be surprised if I ended up liking Bergamont Truffle. Lychees taste good but I wouldn’t want to smell of one.

I’ll be honest: having a very hard time imaging these as perfumes, but as food? Oh my God, yes please, where do I sign up, and no, I don’t care about the price! That first one and the pistachio look like wonderful food items. (Not a white chocolate fan.) But perfume?? No kidding on the no licking in public…might not want to wear it in public if there’s much sillage…
I look forward to trying them…really doubt they’ll smell so straight up food as all that!

I know! just reading about them had me rummaging about in the pantry…..naturally I didn’t find anything even half way interesting, got a bottle of propel and got on with the day….but it was a chocolate searching frenzy for a few moments!
I just got my samples from LS and tried all three, the nicest one to me if the Bergamot Truffle and the weird part is that it was actually the one i least wanted to try. They are all very sweet, if you are a gourmand fragrance lover, you will like these a lot. I sometimes reach for gourmand scents on a weekend after a shower, its like a comfort thing.

This scent line has not been on my radar at all, but I just came back from Scent Bar where they had pulled out Pistachio Ganache for me. I LOVE this. Mind you, I had a ton of other scents going on, so I’ll be giving it a “clean” try tomorrow. But there is a wonderful salty opening and nuttiness that is wonderful.
